On April 30, the day that my Pieter went to heaven, I came home from the funeral home and spotted this FIRST fully open blossom...
Fragrant Magnolia Grandiflora 'Namnetensis Flore Pleno'
Parked my car inside the garage and captured it as it was also very low on this huge tree and easy to access.
Its planter is no longer with us to admire this tree which he planted in 1993 but no doubt my Pieter is watching over his estate from heaven...

Todo te lo recuerda. Es dificíl acostumbrarse a su ausencia física, ya que mentalmente siempre lo tendrás presente.
ReplyDeleteUn abrazo.

Dear Mariette, you just know Pieter is looking down on this tree from heaven. I am sure he was glad you spotted it so quickly and had the flower positioned just for you to photo. You'll remember April 30 every time you see this bloom, but with much love in your heart. Lynn and Precious XX
ReplyDeleteDearest Lynn and Precious,
DeleteIt was indeed a very special sight to see this fully opened flower.

It's gorgeous. I'd like to think that was Pieter's doing, that the blossom was fully open as you got home. ❤️

Hello Mariette, What a special gift to you that perfect flower was. Your weather looks like the kind I am escaping from in Taiwan. I just looked at Dublin's climate on Wikipedia and it seems quite sub-tropical in the summer, but pretty chilly in the winter. Do any palm trees grow near there, or is it too cold? (A few palm trees grow in Taipei, but they look unhappy and like they would rather be in Southern Taiwan, more their kind of place.)
ReplyDelete--Jim
Dearest Jim,
DeleteYes, it was a perfect timing for that Magnolia to bloom just then!
Our past winter was very mild but it can be harsh in some years, like in 1983 when we were here for the first ever winter. We sure do have palm trees and they do well: https://mariettesbacktobasics.blogspot.com/2022/07/pieter-captured-our-estate-progress-for.html
Pieter did show them to me in June of 2022 when I went solo to The Netherlands for picking up Mom & Dad's Estate items.
Hugs,
Mariette
Maggie is very beautiful and she was indeed sending smiles from Pieter.
ReplyDeleteDearest Terry,
DeleteLove the name Maggie for that majestic flower and no doubt it was Pieter smiling down at me!

That magnolia is gorgeous. I'm so glad you can still enjoy Pieter's flowers.
ReplyDeleteIt has been crazy hot here, too, but is finally cooling down today with some much needed rain.
Dearest Danielle,
DeleteYes, it is a regal tree with humongous, double fragrant blooms.
Rain is threatening here as well and so much needed for the farmers!

What a touching and beautiful moment you've shared! It's incredibly moving how nature has a way of offering comfort during difficult times. The blooming of the Fragrant Magnolia Grandiflora 'Namnetensis Flore Pleno' seems like a lovely sign from Pieter, letting you know he's still with you in spirit, watching over the garden he cherished so much. The beauty and fragrance of the magnolia blossom must be a wonderful reminder of the love and care that went into planting it. Thank you for sharing this heartwarming experience. 🌸
ReplyDeleteDearest Anna,
DeleteThank you and indeed nature has a thousand little miracles unfolding before our very eyes.
Hugs,
Mariette
Mariette
That sure is a special bloom! Exquisite!
ReplyDeleteAnd in your previous post all your window bloomers are gorgeous!
Sometimes I can get an Amaryllis to rebloom, for a year or two, but this year I had no luck...This house has no windowsills, so all my plants are either under lights or in a south facing area on shelving. I have a shade to filter the light there, else they would cook.
I am sorry that you have to endure all that pain.
(And I just got back from my work!)
Dearest Ingrid,
DeleteThank you and as for the windowsills, we had the home built that way as here in the US there usually is only a narrow ledge.
That is a typical Dutch thing and having plants to enjoy is such a bliss.
Will try to go back to bed and sleep but when the pain attacks it is impossible...
Hugs,
Mariette
Droga Marietta. Piter zostawił Tobie pięknie kwitnący kwiat. Zawsze będzie z Tobą w sercu. Ściskam Cię mocno i pozdrawiam.
ReplyDeleteNajdroższa Małgorzato,
DeleteTak, jest zawsze ze mną, gdziekolwiek się zwrócę. Zostawił tak wiele rzeczy, ponieważ był tak produktywny swoimi rękami...

This is a special bloom to you two.
ReplyDeleteDearest RTC,
DeleteYes, a very special bloom!
Hugs,
Mariette
How special to see a magnolia blossom on the day of Pieter's funeral, Mariette. I've always loved this flower. There used to be a tree at my old house with BIG white blossoms that had the prettiest scent. Stay cool these summer days, and wishing you pleasant July days.
ReplyDelete~Sheri
Dearest Sheri,
DeleteNo, not on the day of Pieter's funeral but on the day of his passing...
This is a different variety as the ones you see here usually, we got also a Southern Magnolia Grandiflora.
Hugs,
Mariette
I Love Magnolias. I couldn't seem to find the name of the photographer for the picture as they came off the website . I didn't want to take credit for the photos being mine. Maybe, I should look around a little more to see if I can find the photographers name.
ReplyDeleteDearest Kelleyn,
DeleteMagnolias are such regal flowers!
You just enjoy your time together and don't worry as you credited someone else already 😉
Hugs,
Mariette
I have read because of their perseverance; Magnolias are a symbol of everlasting love and connections. Beautiful flower and it's scent. Hugs, Betsy
ReplyDeleteDearest Betsy,
DeleteThank you for writing this—had not even thought about it!
Hugs,
Mariette
What a gorgeous flower! And I am sure it was Pieter who sent it to you on that day, to say hello from Heaven.
ReplyDeleteMy Nicolas is suffering from his knee and he is going to surgery on Thursday. I pray he will be feeling better soon and recover well!
Take care of you, dear Mariette!
Many hugs!
Dearest Marie–Anne,
DeleteThank you and it sure looks like a true sign from Heaven.
Wishing your Nicolas all the best on Thursday as a hurting knee is tough to live with.
Hugs,
Mariette
I'm sure there's nothing on your property that doesn't have your Pieter's touch. He watches over you, wherever he is.
ReplyDeletexoxo
Dearest Cristina,
