{Escada Pastel Green Jeans Suit}

Don't know about you but I do love wearing jeans and also jeans suits with skirts. One of those is my pastel green Escada jeans suit.
On Sunday, April 20 next to our Indian Hawthorn along the driveway.
Wearing a sleeveless silk cashmere mock turtleneck under the longer jeans jacket.
Husband Pieter in his charcoal Ermenegildo Zegna suit in tropical weight wool.
Matching Escada purse as well...
The silk cashmere sleeveless top has a very nice knitted lace edging.
It is the perfect outfit for early spring!
Do you like to wear jeans outfits?

{Outlet Scores}

Always a pleasure to find great Outlet Scores and we are often successful in Florida.
This Escada jeans suit we found at Escada Outlet Store in Florida, right after I came out of the hospital, when I got almost completely paralyzed because of a rare auto immune disease. I had lost so much weight that I barely could keep any pants on my hips...
Here I wear it again with two new Oultet Scores from the Wolford outlet.
Yes, those Outlets are great for Men's clothes as well.
Here husband Pieter is wearing his favorite jeans brand: Zegna with a nice vest from Last Call by Neiman Marcus.
Pieter captured me laughing at one of our cats; they always follow us like doggies!
You can see the Cotton Velvet Wolford top with the leather belt.
Lovely belt with roses... that was a pre-surgery gift when we were in Florida for a relaxing vacation in September of 2013, but with horrible weather.
Got so lucky that this was in the Wolford Outlet at Orlando, FL
On our latest trip we learned that they closed in February.
But there is one in Fort Lauderdale at The Colonnade!
With Last Call by Neiman Marcus and Escada Outlet store at the Colonnade Outlets at Sawgrass, that makes it super...
Do you also treasure such Outlet Scores?

{My Hand Knitted Irish Aran Men's Vest}

At the time that husband Pieter still needed to travel frequently to Portage La Prairie in Manitoba, Canada for Campbell Soup, I did hand knit this Irish Aran Mens's Vest for him from a Burda magazine. That kept him nicely warm. Here in Georgia, it hardly ever is being worn but on Sunday, January 12, we went for a walk and Pieter wore it.
Knitted in Phildar wool in Rustique Naturelle... with wooden buttons.
Knitted from the Dutch Burda Breien en Haken 365 patroon 101
Did knit this from a German description however, since the enclosed pattern got lost...
Here you see husband Pieter, wearing my hand knitted Irish Aran Vest and also his Bailey Trilby Tweed - Wool Fedora Hat from Hatcountry's Italian collection.
Blue winter sky made for a perfect walk...
this is the back part of the Vest with raglan sleeves.
Detail of the cable knitting...
Ribcord jeans are from the Outlet by Ermenegildo Zegna.
Rubber boots are French Le Chameau  click it
Okay, let's walk on...
On January 13, 1985, I proudly show my just finished Irish Aran Men's Vest to my Dublin Mama 'Alice' and to my Thai–American friend Somai.
This photo is taken at our previous Dublin home...
This heavy vest I did knit in 11 days; just in time for a winter trip into Portage La Prairie, Manitoba in Canada for Pieter!
Have you done any Irish Aran pattern?

{Raw Silk Purchased in Hong Kong for Sewing THIS}

Traveling to International Conferences gives you a great opportunity for some special shopping. Such was the case when we went to Hong Kong and I got to purchase some lovely Raw Silk. Very soft, not that thin and it drapes perfect. So look what I created from my fabric...
A short cropped jacket with elbow length sleeves over a narrow skirt.
This is from a Burda pattern in a size 4 or European 34.
I used antique buttons as a garnish.
The entire suit is lined in black silk from Britex Fabrics in San Francisco.
My top is a knit rayon by Escada.
I do wear a Chanel belt through the added on belt loops.
Wolford panty hose and Italian Bruno Magli patent leather shoes from the Outlet.
Yes, that wasp catcher behind me will get painted white one of these days...
There are two pockets sewn on in the back and the skirt has a center slit.
Yes, I did match the plaids in all seams...
This raw silk fabric is a bit slubby.
Detail of the antique button...
And my Rado coupole watch that we bought tax free at Singapore airport.
Later I added the wrist band as it came with a black leather one.
Bracelet is white and yellow gold from Costco wholesale.
Lots of topstitching done on this suit; all with Japanese silk thread from Britex Notions.
Meet the photographer Pieter in his cotton plaid shirt with linen Zegna jeans from the Outlet.

{Cotton Field in the Heart of Georgia/USA}

My guess is that most of you never ever have seen a real cotton field. Sunday when we came out of Church, they had started mechanical picking of cotton in our neighborhood. So we did hurry for getting some photos before it would be all gone. Proudly showing you here, a local Cotton Field in the Heart of Georgia/USA. A surprise below the first photos, our VERY FIRST view of a cotton field in November of 1983...
Wearing the Advent color, my Escada jacket, from the Premium Outlets, I am holding fresh cotton puff. See below my post the comment from 'seedscatterer' as she is very knowledgeable about cotton.
It looks very much like the cotton balls you buy.
The reason they started harvesting this field on Sunday was because of rain on Monday...
JIT = Just In Time!
Fields here in Georgia are always big because work is done mechanically so it doesn't matter what length.
So this is the landscape, only half a mile from our home.
Showing my black Escada cotton jeans (ironically...) and wool jacket.
Pieter in his charcoal gray Ermenegildo Zegna suit from the Premium Outlets in Orlando, Florida.
He wears an Advent color shirt and tie...
Detail of how those cotton puffs are on the plant...
It is quite late for harvesting them on December 16, in our opinion but who are we to know anything about it?
This photo is taken from husband Pieter on Sunday, November 7, 1983... The VERY FIRST time we saw cotton ourselves; only 29 years ago!
This was quite an experience for holding it for the first time!
Only 29 years ago...
My hand showing one cotton boll that is not yet opened completely...
Hope you enjoyed this tour through rural Georgia for seeing what is growing on our fields.
Certainly this is not the fine, long staple, Egyptian Cotton that we use for our bed linens.
American grown cotton is mainly short staple cotton.
But I must admit that I have no clue what this one will be used for...
Thanks for your time!

{My French DMC Rose Filet Lace Crocheted Curtains}

In one of my previous blogs from September 27, about {Our Home of almost 20 years} I've mentioned that I will show you the Rose Filet Lace Curtains that I hand crocheted from French DMC crochet thread. So now I will show them to you. If you read about the DMC History, than you know why I used this double mercerized finest crochet cotton.  After all, I worked 80 hours on this front door set and it was for a value of $ 100.00 on material in 1990!
If there are still readers that don't know that I do LOVE roses... well, here you see a Rubber Ducky skirt that I got as a gift from friend Lei. Also you see the oak bench worked with roses in the back.
The curtains can face either way, I do vary at times. I've made them in Indonesia while living and working there. But now let's go back to where it started...
In May of 1975 I got this Dutch magazine and fell literally in love with the Rose design.
So I got out my steel crochet hook and thread and made me the first hand crocheted rose curtain.
Hung on two rods, in my living room... back in The Netherlands.
A couple of years later we bought our own home, instead of renting, and I designed another Rose Filet Lace Curtain. Still in The Netherlands.
Five years later, I designed another set for our first home in Dublin, Georgia - USA...
You can see it behind my friend and me.
September 1987 seen from inside at our former home...
While living in Pennsylvania and later in Italy, I did not have a Rose Filet Lace Curtain but while living and working in Indonesia I did crochet 80 hours and came home with the completed set. So since November of 1990, they're hanging here. Our garden is not yet established in this photo; we just moved in.
For the side windows I designed them in a finer, size 20 DMC Cébélia and for the main windows it is a size 10 Cébélia.
French DMC Cébélia Crochet cotton is indeed the finest in the world!
It being double mercerized makes it smooth and silky to work with and it looks great too.
On the inside I did sew a heavy rayon-cotton damask curtain with roses... as it helps keep the energy bill low during winter, as well as our hot summers. When not closed, it hangs with some tassels and cords to the side. Here is Anita, our foster-daughter standing in front of the front door.
You also still can see our white ceramic chandelier from Italy...
If you type in ceramic chandelier from the search box, top right you find more posts about it in detail.
Curtain is closed here.
Pieter wearing his Ermenegildo Zegna suit and I my Escada suit with blouse.
The rayon-cotton damask I got from Britex Fabrics in San Francisco. My favorite store for fabrics and notions. When we were still doing consulting work, we got to go to San Francisco quite often. They do also have a swatch service. Check out their site and I do follow their blog as well (you find it on the side-bar).
You can see how I did sew and pleat them, after I'd put the ribbon on.
Hard to capture the damask rose pattern... in a cream color.
But the rayon-cotton blend is beautiful. I don't like synthetics and these are far better for the energy saving purpose. So in two ways we keep the planet green.
 This week I did clean the windows and wash meanwhile the crocheted curtains in my Miele washer.
Now the trick for having them hung just perfect.
Take them out of the washing machine after the spinning cycle has completed and work with them while they're still moist. First attach all four corners. Pieter, together with my Dad did painstakingly hammer tiny brass nails around the windows. They complained that it took them forever but I told them, that's only fair as I did crochet for 80 hours! The brass will never tarnish the curtains and besides, it is all painted over white. Below you get to see a detail with those nails.
The side panels are hanging already and this time I let the roses face towards the center.
Done and it took me less than an hour to pin them on.
When it is dark they show even better.
So now you've seen my hand crocheted French DMC Cébélia Rose Curtains in Filet-Lace...
Together with the heavy rayon-cotton over curtain it is our way of Going Green!
