Hi there, this is Bandido, or
Dido for short. Just lounging on the lawn after supper time... the day is ending fast and sunset is about to happen. But tell me, do you like my paradise? I am so happy that I was born here, after they did bring my Mamita home from Acapulco! Look, my human Papi did cut off big branches and now I can oversee much better the garden. There are still some leaves behind me, Papi had to drag those heavy branches all the way back to the creek. There they are stacked up but they will rot away in no time. There used to be a huge wall of logs but it's all gone now. Nice to play on top of it but if it's gone we must look for something else again. Oh, and I also can climb easily up this huge oak tree. As kittens we used to come here and play chase with each other. Chasing my sisters was always fun! Read about us

There is a creek, behind the pond... Dido is looking at the pond.
Yesterday, Pieter did cut off some thick branches from our
Quercus Virginiana Live Oak as it grew with one branch too much towards our home. We planted it on October 14, 1994 and look what a huge tree it has become. In order to make the 'haircut' look symmetric, on the other side a branch got cut off as well. Maybe with more light coming under the tree, the grass will regrow... So here is the new hair cut.
- That left branch got three arms cut off... Our home is again more in view this way.
- Here you can clearly see the three branches that got cut off the BIG branch. Just move to the left and upwards to see the third cut. The gazebo becomes clearly visible again from underneath.
- This is from the other side looking towards the driveway with the Quercus Virginiana Grand View Gold also in view next to our Palm tree. Looks like this huge live oak raises both arms up to the heavens... The fig tree is laughing as it now has more freedom behind the vinyl fence.
- Standing back now, it looks more airy from underneath. These photos are taken at 7:30 PM after we just got home from the Business After Hours with the Chamber of Commerce.

Already on June 10, Pieter photographed our Brugmansia species 'Angel's Trumpet' with its very first blossoms. Usually they continue to bloom all through summer. This year however, because of the drought, we've waited in vain - nothing has bloomed after these two. Sorry, not much to show but this is it for 2011. We got these beauties from
Logee's. This Andean native is sweetly fragrant. Look below post at
{Our last Datura Angel's Trumpets and TEA with a Twist} how it looked last year in November!
It becomes a flower within a flower.
Its botanical name is: Datura inoxia var. quinquecuspida. Common names: devil's trumpet, downy thornapple, toloache, angel's trumpet. Family: Solanaceae (nightshade Family).
