The time is passing ever faster it seems like... It is gray and dreary looking outside with some rain. But inside we can create a cozy setting with the use of some votive candles and with natural things from our own garden. Wishing you all a Happy 3rd ADVENT Week! Stay cozy and warm.
On eBay I once got a hold of this Baccarat Crystal Vesuve / Vesuvius Caviar Server (2 pcs) because the inset was missing... But it works perfect for floating candles with fresh flowers.
Here I used fresh cranberries for inside.
To the left you see our Rösle Universal Fire Lighter which works great to light candles or whatsoever.
Also a WMF silver candle snuffer...
To the right you can see some yellow Ilex berries from our Ilex decidua 'Finch's Golden'
The berry yield this year is poor, also on the red Ilex, shown to the left with barely any berries...
The Pyracantha Firethorn berries we had plenty and also the red Nandina or Heavenly Bamboo berries.
The table runner in Portuguese Guimarães white work, we bought in Coimbra in 1994 while on tour through Spain Portugal for 19 days.
Used on top of this red Hardangar tablecloth it looks perfect.
Closeup where you see those Heavenly Bamboo berries to the left and the Pyracantha Firethorn berries to the right.
You also get to see the great quality of fresh cranberries we got from Costco Wholesale.
I've made Cranberry Conserve out of them. Below you find the link to my post with recipe.
Making photos during the dark days of the year is hard in itself but trying to capture those flames of burning votives is even harder...
Don't you love the hand embroidered detail of that Portuguese Guimarães white work?
Wishing YOU all a Happy 3rd ADVENT Week!

DeleteWishing you and your family also a meaningful Advent week. Thank you and those cranberries are special enough for sharing with you all.

Hello Mariette, An imaginative use for that unusual bowl. I loved the floating cranberries--they remind me of pictures I've seen of harvests cranberry bogs with vistas of floating cranberries.
ReplyDeleteDearest Jim,
DeleteFor caviar we would never ever use it, even if the second part would be there. I have tried caviar but was not very impressed about its taste...
These cranberries were so big and of great quality so their harvest must have been optimum. Indeed, I do recall those pictures too; it is a remarkable crop!
Hugs,
Mariette
Lieve Mariette,
http://www.oceanspray.nl/home/
Mariette
Beautifully displayed my dear friend. Wishing you the best of 3rd Advent week... hugs and blessings, C. (HHL)

ReplyDeleteDearest Stacy,
DeleteThank you dear, the 3rd week of Advent started lovely with a great performance of the Nutcracker at our local Theatre.

Semmai riprovo a riscriverti.
Baci,
Mariette
Dear mariette,
ReplyDeleteI love the way the little tealights float in between the berries. It looks very decorative! Wishing you and Pieter a lovely week ahead. Enjoy the pre Christmas festivities!
Madelief x
Dearest Madelief,
DeleteThank you, with cranberries (veenbessen) one can easily decorate in a very festive way. I did actually use them all for my yearly cranberry conserve. Today we had a lovely performance of the Nutcracker here at the local Theatre so our pre Christmas season is going well.
Hugs to you and your girls!
Mariette
Oh, that looks so beautiful and creates lovely atmosphere!! Great idea:)
ReplyDeleteDearest Eli,
DeleteCranberries are a great way to decorate before cooking them up for the lovely cranberry conserve! Guess that color red does spark happiness in everybody's mind for this special season when life outside is so dark (not in your area though...). We miss our work in Indonesia and south India in the more tropical climate. But our winter is not long; only 3 months.
Hugs,
Mariette

DeleteThank you and to you as well a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Je maakt altijd heel stijlvolle foto's. Dit kan zo in een tijdschrift.
ReplyDeleteBeste Marianne,

Liefs,
Mariette
Dear Mariette,
ReplyDeleteBeautiful decorations for the 3rd Advent week - love the bright red of the cranberries and the floating candles. Makes you home look warm and cozy, especially if your weather has been grey.
Have a happy week
hugs
Carolyn
Dearest Carolyn,
DeleteThose were sure some of the 'grey days'! But red makes things look happy and cheerful indeed.
Today was a sunny day and so are the coming three days with near freezing temperatures during the night but from 17°C-19°C during the day. Not bad at all!
Sending you hugs and blessigns for this special season.
Mariette
ReplyDeleteGroetjes Janny
Beste Janny,
Liefs,
Mariette
Oh, I love this gorgeous Advent display, my dear Mariette!!!!!!!!!!! So colourful! The floating cranberries, the various berries from your garden, the beautiful portuguese table runner....a superb composition!!!
ReplyDeleteI wish you a happy third Advent week, my dear friend!!!!
Hugs!!
Dearest Marie-Anne,
DeleteThank you so much! It really was a great composition and red berries always work their magic.
Our third Advent week is passing fast already and in one week it will be Christmas once again.
Hope you and your loved ones are having a very meaningful time of the year.
Hugs,
Mariette
