Our two HUGE Magnolia Grandiflora the trees go through different stages. Husband Pieter did make this photo series on June 13, to show you more about it.
Here you see a fully opened up flower from the Fragrant Magnolia Grandiflora 'Namnetensis Flore Pleno' and Pieter did place the US $ 0.01 for comparison.
This one is still budding in October ...
Yes, we are going backward, this is still more closed.
And this is a totally closed up bud.
Bud Developing ...
This is the beginning of a new leaf!
Funny with an old leaf still attached around the new budding leaf ...
Beautiful photo showing a budding October leaf and the seed pod, after the bloom has blossomed.
From the beginning of our driveway ... This Fragrant Magnolia Grandiflora 'Namnetensis Flore Pleno' is HUGE. We planted it in January 1996 together with the Quercus virginiana Grand View Gold, you see to the right. Both are our most expensive trees on the property!
Here the Grand View Gold, life oak tree to the left looks more striking.
ALSO we did detect several pesky Saw Greenbrier, Catbrier, Bullbrier que had clinic Their Way up ... Of course, They got cut off!
This is from the driveway near the house, showing Also part of our Windmill Palm.
Walking now across the entire property, a photo taken from the neighbor's side, showing our other Magnolia Grandiflora Virginiana.
That one is HUGE as well and is sitting on the lawn ...
From a different angle, with the huge Also, trimmed up oak tree next to it.
Also do you have such a giant Magnolia tree in your yard?

Dearest Mariette; Your two Magnolia trees are gorgeously sitting in your yard♪ Your going backward pictures really helped me to enjoy the each stage of the flower to bloom♡♡♡
ReplyDeleteI hope you will have a wonderful rest of the week.
Sending Lots of Love and Hugs from Japan to my Dear friend in America, xoxo Miyako*
My dear friend. It has been too too long since I have been here. I have many many GrandiFlora magnolias here where I live. They are everywhere. I cannot wait to go out in the beginning of their blooming season and take their pictures. I do it every year. When I have posted the pictures I always say they are as large as a salad plate when fully opened.
ReplyDeleteWonderful blog and great beauty you have shared. Thank you.
I hadn't realized the magnolia flowers were so big! Love your huge magnolia tree and lovely garden.
ReplyDeleteEnjoyed the backwards progress of the magnolia flower.
My neighbour has two of these trees. The flowers are beautiful !!!
ReplyDeleteThat is one grand magnolia tree for sure. Wow! Magnolias are my state flower. :) I used to have a faux magnolia made from wire and white balloons. It was so pretty but unfortunately the climate here just made it dirty and it couldn't be cleaned so I had to get rid of it. Best wishes, Tammy
ReplyDeleteLiebe Mariette,
ReplyDeletePRACHTVOLL!
Sonnige Sommergrüße
Elisabeth
Dat is een enorme boom. Wat zullen de bloemen ook heerlijk geuren.Mooie bloemen zijn het.
ReplyDeleteGroetjes Janny
Traudi

ReplyDeleteSuch beautiful magnolia blossom! I can see how huge with the coin on it! Love the series of photos going backwards:-) It looks beautiful in the process of opening flowers as well. And the tree is seriously huge! It's really like it's "sitting" on the lawn :-)
ReplyDeleteHave a happy holiday weekend, Mariette!
Sara
