On November 30 of 1990, our Pastor came to bless our new home.
It was very special that Dad, the Patriarch of our Family, could be present as well.
On Friday, November 30, Father Conrad Schmitt from our Catholic Church came for the special Blessing of our New Home around 17:30!
Just as Heeroom (brother of my Paternal Grandmother) had blessed the home where Mom & Dad resided all their married years...
We had our previous home also officially blessed by Father Toner, on December 3 of 1984.
Father Conrad Schmitt and my Dad in the door way and me...
Well, I still was preparing dinner for us to enjoy afterward... hence my apron!
After dinner, Dad sat with Father Conrad and we enjoyed a very special evening.
Even the cook got to take her apron off...
Too bad that poor Pieter the photographer is not in any photo but he got his blessing!

Liebe Elisabeth,
DeleteJa, das war es!

Hello Mariette, Apparently the blessings worked. You and Pieter have had and are still having much happiness in this house, many of them connected to the domesticity of the house itself--yard projects, multi-cultural decor, and interior projects such as your fleur-de-lys crochet curtains, all of which add up to a real home. I wish you both many more years of health and happiness.
ReplyDelete--Jim
Dearest Jim,
DeleteYes, you are right about those blessings having worked.
We did create a home with a true soul in it to which one always loves to return home.
Extending our time together is our biggest wish...
Hugs,
Mariette
Sono ricordi che non si cancelleranno mai.
ReplyDeleteBuon inizio settimana.
Caro Giancarlo,
DeleteLe benedizioni rimangono per sempre e anche i ricordi speciali.
Abbracci,
Mariette
A moment full of solemnity and no doubt, a very moving memory .
ReplyDeleteThank you for your visit to the studio!!
Dearest Héléne,
DeleteYes, it was a very solemn moment and touching to the soul, celebrated with a special meal afterwards.
Hugs,
Mariette
Hi Mariette! A special event. I didn't know about that. We do not bless the home.
ReplyDeleteDearest Anne,
DeleteYes it was and it is a very special ritual with lots of meaning!
Hugs,
Mariette
A very special event and a lovely memory with your Dad.

I agree that the blessing worked. What a joy this home has been.
ReplyDeleteDearest Janey,
DeleteThey sure have worked and we felt always grateful for many things.
Hugs,
Mariette
Very special blessing for your new home and so wonderful your dad could be there when it was held. You look charming in your apron. Glad you all enjoyed a lovely evening :-)
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful day, Mariette!
Dearest Tamago,
DeleteWe both felled thrilled for having our new home and this blessing was the icing on the cake and worked so far.
Having Dad staying with us was indeed very special.
Still have that apron and always loved wearing it...
Hugs,
Mariette
Liefs,
Mariette
Those are very special moments. At that time we didn't have digital camera. There were limited number of films on each roll. We used to use very carefully those film rolls. And all the pictures had a story behind them.
ReplyDeleteDearest Krishna,
DeleteNo, the digital camera was not yet around for capturing such special moments... But we're glad we captured some of it as a lasting memory.
Hugs,
Mariette
Wyjątkowa uroczystość Mariette takie błogosławieństwo domu. Pierwszy raz się z takim czymś spotykam. Pozdrawiam serdecznie.
Mariette
How special the memories of your father's visit and seeing how you live and being a part of some of the moments. I'm sure he enjoyed his time with his daughter and son-in-law.
ReplyDeleteDearest Debbie,
DeleteYes, now my Dad no longer is with us, such memories are even more special to hold on to!
He sure enjoyed his six visits and stays with us.
Hugs,
Mariette
It is really lovely that your father was able to be present at the blessing of your new home. It must now be almost 30 years that you have spent in your lovely home together and may both of you enjoy many more.
ReplyDeleteDearest Rosemary,
DeleteYes, this month it will be 30 years ago... unreal!
We have loved living here and are praying that we will be granted some more time together.
Hugs,
Mariette
