Charlottesville Virginia to Charlotte North Carolina

We felt almost like HOME after our 4 nights at Hyatt Place Charlottesville, Virginia!
But now we had to pack up and move to the next Hyatt, to Hyatt House in Charlotte, North Carolina...
Hyatt Place Charlottesville, Virginia has a pleasant exterior and there is free parking on the side and in the back.
Very courteous management too, this is what I got in reply to my review:
For any future guests, parking is always complimentary here. We even have car charging stations for those with electric cars (8 are Tesla specific).
~
It also was conveniently located for making our trips to Monticello and to the Skyline Drive. See links below.
Breakfast at any Hyatt Place is great!
Here I'm showing you their MONSTER-SIZED BLUE BERRIES...
The day sure started out chilly at 0ºC or 32 ºF but SUNNY!
So on November 2, we left our Hyatt Place 'Home Away from Home' for getting onto the I-85 and driving south towards Charlotte, North Carolina. No more scenic routes but still it is a beautiful area.
It would be ONLY 269 miles or 443 km!

By 16:36 we were inside our Hyatt House One Bedroom King Suite with full kitchen etc.
Yes, we had done shopping, at Whole Foods Market the day prior, so we were all set for having our supper and an easy relaxed evening at home!
A beautiful view from our Kingsize bed!
Yes, we had sunny weather...
Our short Relive video of the day
My solo 4 hour 48 minute drive via Interstate and total of 443.4 km or 269 miles.

We would stay here only one night... stay tuned for the next segment.

  3. Hello Mariette, I would love the chance to visit historic Charlotte, NC. Charlotte was the site of an early gold rush, and there was a branch mint established there, which stamped the coins they minted (all gold ones) with a C for Charlotte. The mint building is now a museum.

    1. Dearest Jim,
One could easily walk around for an entire week and explore lots more of its history.
Love the info about the gold coins stamped with a C for Charlotte; interesting!

    1. Dearest Endah,
Guess you seldom or never get to see blueberries in Indonesia as it is a typical product from cooler regions.
We get them year round, fresh, either from the Southern Hemisphere or grown within the USA.
      Hugs,
      Mariette

  5. It's so nice that the manager of Hyatt Place Charlottesville responded to your review. They listen to guests which is a good thing. The room in Hyatt House Charlotte looks very clean and spacious. I love having kitchen in hotel rooms!

Yes, that was the highest courtesy for taking the time to do that!
We really enjoyed being there for four days, regardless one tornado/rain day.
Blueberries that could easily compete and win from cherries in size...
      Hugs,

  6. Hello! Way back in 1968-70 we lived in Bethesda while my husband was stationed at Walter Reed. You managed to bring back so many wonderful memories of all those long weekend excursions we took with our children. Charlottesville my favorite!
Have a lovely day filled with ‘magic.’

Thank you and glad it did rekindle some fond memories for you and your family while living in the region.
We always have loved that region and so glad we have passed through quite often and also lingered a bit longer this time for savoring it.

Oh sí, esto fue realmente genial y nos encanta tener una especie de hogar lejos de casa. Una vez que llegas a tu destino ya no tienes que irte y tener tu propia comida en la habitación con una cocina tan genial.
      Abrazos

  10. Those blueberries ARE huge! I find the larger they are, the less tasty -- or so has been my experience with those sold in our grocery stores.

    That suite looked very nice!

Well, those monster sized blueberries were very juicy and sweet! it depends more on variety for taste I guess.
It was a wonderful suite and in a very quiet area too.

  12. My heavens you are traveling all over Virginia. I enjoy reading about it. We like the Hyatt also.
My niece and her husband live in Charlottesville. Jeremy works in the historic town and Amy is a wedding photographer who is constantly traveling.
I love Monticello in the spring when it's nice to stroll the gardens.
I enjoy reading about your travels and seeing some great shots of the areas.
    Hugs

    1. Dearest Betsy,
Yes, we both did cover Virginia quite well, except for the coastline...
Monticello sure is best in the spring but we started off due to a wedding in Tennessee, so that's the reason for the timing... All in all, the weather has been perfect during the entire trip, except for the one day that we stayed in but I'd not planned that because of a tornado and heavy rain but because I needed a break from driving solo...
      Hugs,
      Mariette
