Just have to share with you our Amaryllis from 2016—YES 8 YEARS!!!
On March 18, on our kitchen bay window sill where Pieter had put the big Delft white planter with the 8–year old Amaryllis. It was opening its blooms now it had come indoors from our greenhouse.
Our now craquelé cachepot...
TWO stems with buds and blooms.
Lovely stamens...
Hard to capture its four blooms and buds...
March 20, at breakfast time in the sunshine...
March 20, from a different angle...
Also March 20, and you see that the second stem shows a huge bud!
March 21—all four are fully open now and the new stem is progressing to show flowers.Only 3 days later the 2nd stem now shows 3 buds that open with the other four still there.
March 29, all three buds fully open and the other buds are all cut off as they quickly started to wilt away.
Quite a SHOW for 11 days and we enjoyed them during breakfast time as that was with the perfect light!

Good Morning Mariette, I have never had luck with Amaryllis and I have only seen solid colors. This is such a pretty one. Hugs, Betsy
ReplyDeleteDearest Betsy,
DeleteWell, this is now its 8th time blooming and we also have Amaryllis outside in the adjacent wood garden but they don't yet bloom.
They are in solid as well as in striped colors and it is a regal flower.
Hugs,
Mariette
Che amarillis meraviglioso!Complimenti!
ReplyDeleteCara Olga,
Abbracci,
Mariette
Quite a show, indeed. Amaryllis truly are beautiful flowers.
ReplyDeleteDearest Patricia,
DeleteOh, they are stunning performers and obviously last many years.
Hugs,
Mariette
How beautiful!
ReplyDeleteDearest Anne,
DeleteYes, it was a stunning performer!
Hugs,
Mariette
Lovely flowers. How do you keep the amaryllis for 8 years? Do you keep the bulb in the pot and keep watering it? Our flowers (in pot) have dried and there's just two stems standing. Do I re-pot in a larger pot?
ReplyDeleteGod bless.
Dearest Victor,
DeleteThank you and yes, after blooming it goes back into the greenhouse until next year.
This pot is quite large...
Hugs,
Mariette
Thank you. God bless.

DeleteOoooo, what a pretty flower. Kind of looks like a candy cane. That's incredible that it's lasted for 8 years! I also wanted to tell you how pretty your Header is, with the tea cup, the chocolate, and the yellow flowers. Having a little quiet time for tea or coffee and a treat during the day is special and much needed. I must get some of those doilies to put my treats on, they're delightful.
ReplyDeleteHappy April days to you, Mariette.
~Sheri
Dearest Sheri,
DeleteThank you and yes, it sure looks like a candy cane!
It must feel happy inside that cachepot and then in the greenhouse where it gets watered until it is time to bring it indoors for blooming.
Glad you like my Header with the Mason chartreuse. Our daffodils have not been blooming for some 8 years but we have the photos. Coffee, neither chocolate are allowed for me due to my kidney's stage but I live on the memories. Those doilies are my favorite 4" sized ones and I have the golden 4" for placing under those Mason chartreuse cups. Also plain white ones for use with other china. Es una planta alta y bastante bella. Hace una hermosa decoración en tu ventana.
ReplyDeleteBesos.
DeleteHello Mariette, Those flowers look too perfect to be real, one might think one was looking at the Ware glass flowers at Harvard. It's nice to see one of your Delft pots make another appearance--they seem to be acquiring a beautiful patina.
ReplyDelete--Jim
Dearest Jim,
DeleteOh, they almost look surreal with their perfect beauty!
Our Delft pots are not in use like we had them all filled in the 80s, 90s and early 2000s as with kitties jumping on window sills it is different. But this is a very special one and it is still serving us well.
Hugs,
Mariette
Oh wow...that is beautiful.
ReplyDeleteDearest Pam,
DeleteYes, those are the little miracles of daily life and we better enjoy them for as long as they last!
Hugs,
Mariette
Oh so pretty
ReplyDeleteDearest Jo-Anne,
DeleteYes, viewing such beauty works uplifting!
Hugs,
Mariette
It's stunning, Mariette, just gorgeous. Obviously it loves the light and all your TLC! Speaking of TLC, I hope you're giving yourself plenty of that and are healing well.
ReplyDeleteDearest Kim,
DeleteThank you and yes, what a sight they were and they also made us feel that the newly installed Andersen® windows—with FibrexⓇ Energy–Efficient Glass that prevent heat and cold transmission and thus 'plant friendly'.
And yes, I do—especially after my OT and PT treatments.
Hugs,
Mariette
Prachtig Mariette! Nu kunnen wij er van meegenieten. Fijne dag, lieve groet Willy
ReplyDeleteBeste Willy,
Liefs,
Mariette
My goodness! That is beautiful and amazing!! I hope you are well and healing, my new friend.
ReplyDeleteDearest Billie Jo,
DeleteIt was so beautiful in the morning sunshine!
Yes, slowly I'm healing and my weight went up 4.5 oz in one week—it is a fight against pain!
Hugs,
Mariette
um show!
Sim, estou lentamente recuperando minha força, meu peso (agora 48,5 kg) e tentando fazer o máximo, comendo bem e descansando o suficiente, além de OT e PT.
Grandes abraços,
Mariette
Prezado Pedro,
DeleteObrigado, essas flores trazem felicidade!
Mariette
These flowers are just wonderful.
ReplyDeletexoxo
Dearest Christina,
DeleteThank you and they really are!
Hugs,
Mariette
Such pretty coloring -- definitely a daily joy to witness. People are always throwing out stuff here and neighbors know I rescue plants so someone left me an orchid in our parking area the other day. Was quite a surprise. I've never had an orchid before but have heard they are fiddly -- plus our environment is not the best for them. I'll have to do some research on how to take care of it.
ReplyDeleteDearest Tammy,
DeleteYes those blooms were a daily joy for 11 days!
One wonders why people dump their kitties and even their orchid...?
Orchids love high humidity but you might spray them and maybe once weekly submerging them in water might help.
Hugs,
Mariette
Wow, that was a true beauty Mariette - you definitely have a 'green thumb'.
ReplyDeleteHope you are doing better dear.
Dearest Mary,
DeleteWell, Pieter knows how to care for them inside the greenhouse till it is time for bringing it back in.
Slowly I improve, but with rainy weather and also after my OT and PT it is rough.
Got up at 4:30 AM because of pain as I no longer managed to sleep...
But each day is one towards better times!
Hugs,
Mariette
Your amaryllis are beautiful, Mariette.
ReplyDeleteHugs and blessings, dearest friend
Dearest Veronica,
DeleteThank you and you bet we enjoyed it!
Hugs,
Mariette
Beautiful, so beautiful! Wundervoll!
Mariette
