Here I would love to share with you our travels and adventures as international mushroom consultants. MEMOIRS about husband Pieter Vedder, who was a SCIENTIFIC PIONEER in Commercial Mushroom Cultivation Education. Yard Pro Tiller and Proud Gardener Pieter

After several years of toiling the soil, adding tons of spent mushroom compost, we developed a very fertile vegetable and fruit garden! Yes, we were getting to see the FRUITS of our labor, after tackling a Mega Task...

Pieter with his Yard Pro Tiller, after a morning of HARD work.
A purebred market gardener!
Pieter showing the good quality soil, after two turns with the tiller.
Still so many roots to be removed and more surprises in the soil, tires that had been dumped there previously by irresponsible people...
There are clickable points when viewed on YouTube, showing our grapes, paprikas (bell peppers), egg plants, squash, raspberries, rhubarb and tomatoes...
Another treasure found due to archiving our home videos.

  1. You two are always so busy and energetic. Where do you get all your stamina from?

    God bless you both always.

    1. Dearest Victor,
Guess we were born with a high drive! Whatever we started we would see through.
But Pieter's quadruple bypass and placing of stent in his neck, changed that.
Still very active though and Pieter often claims for being alive due to what he used to do.
      Hugs,
      Mariette

You are so right in reclaiming soil that never has been labored on took quite some extremely hard work.
Pieter is of a rare breed with enormous drive.

  4. Hello Mariette, You know you are a professional gardener when you get your own rototiller. Robert Benchley once said that when you are preparing the ground for a new garden, you find enough miscellaneous objects to supply a well-stocked notions counter, and also enough rocks to contract with a neighbor who is building a stone house.

    1. Dearest Jim,
Pieter said, his Dad would have loved to have such a rototiller back in the days... It was a great tool for helping establish our garden but you are so right about all the surprises you find! One wonders how some people can dump tires and such on someone else's property...
      Hugs,
      Mariette

    2. Hi again, Sometimes there are good surprises, too. I was just reading about someone who dug up cans filled with gold coins! --Jim

    3. Dearest Jim,
That would be awesome but since we are the very first people that ever lived here, there was little chance of such a treasure. Not even arrows we found!

Thank you and those were our very best years. There is no longer the availability of spent mushroom compost for improving our poor soil.

  9. In fact, nothing is achieved without effort and if we talk about work in the field, the effort is on several levels. And your work is an example of that.
