Our Charleston See–It–All Sightseeing Bus Tour

Quite pleased with having booked us a Charleston See–It–All Sightseeing Bus Tour!
That proved to be excellent and conveniently close within walking distance to our Hyatt House Charleston Historic District in South Carolina.
Thanks to TripAdvisor, where I found some excellent reviews that highly recommended this.
Also instead of a carriage tour, which covers only a limited area and would be rather noisy as you are out in the open... Considering my Pieter wearing hearing aids.
Having booked on line I had our tickets on my iPhone and we walked in about 5 minutes from the Hyatt House Charleston Historic District, to 375 Meeting Street to VISITOR CENTER of Charleston.
That's where all the tour buses come to pick up their passengers.
Charleston with its Southern Charm was founded in 1670 as Charles Town in honor of King Charles II.
Charleston is also called the Holy City because of its religious tolerance and abundant places of worship.
Charleston has lots of handmade wrought iron work. Notice the elaborate front door that goes to nowhere?
It just gets opened for letting the natural breeze go through all the way by opening the next door and/or windows.
Also the single house (one room wide) has its narrow side with a gable end, along the street.
Always facing north/south or east/west for taking advantage of prevailing breezes.
Citadel Military College
The Citadel Airforce Jet named Annette from the Vietnam War era.
Huge Replica of the Citadel's Class Ring
Colonial Lake Park a charming historical city park in the middle of Charleston's historic neighborhoods
As you can see, the weather was perfect!
Charleston maintains also a perfect green image of its beautiful historic city!
Great architecture and perfect gardens, parks and green sections throughout.
Lovely historic home and especially the lower outdoor shutters are exactly in the pattern as we have for our indoor shutters and doors!
You can see our Historic Charleston raised panels here: {Our 'GREEN' Bedroom} ←click on link.
Real lovely homes and often surrounded by Live Oak trees, as you see here in the front.
Statue to the The Defenders of Fort Sumter Monument in Battery Park
Text reads: To The Confederate Defenders of Charleston
Fort Sumter
1861–1865
The statue is located in the southern tip of the Battery
The Battery in Charleston is a fortified seawall and promenade.
The Battery is lined with historic antebellum homes... the cream of the Holy City's architecture.
Our Sightseeing Bus Tour lasted 90 minutes and the driver was very knowledgeable.
My Pieter enjoyed listening to him and getting to know more about Charleston's history and architecture; so did I!
Just snapped this picture hastily as we had disembarked at the Visitor Center before driver Benji pulled up...
That was a wonderful Adventure!
Now we leisurely stroll back to our hotel...
Pieter comfortably dressed in his Zegna jeans and comfy shoes, just as I was wearing, with my Escada jeans and Wolford top seen in top picture.
Lovely handmade wrought iron work everywhere and these lanterns got adorned with flower baskets.
And arriving "HOME" again at our Hyatt House...
Perfect for tea time at our One Bedroom King Suite!
The weather was perfect as well with still 23℃ or 73.4℉ at 16:40 o'clock!
Enjoy our short Relive video and stay tuned for more...

  1. Happy Easter Mariette! What a beautiful tour you had in Charleston. Whenever I hear its name I think of 'Gone with the Wind'... beautiful architecture, and so very historic. You look so chic in your tour outfit. Thank you for the video tour :)

    1. Dearest Patricia,
Thank you for the Easter wishes, it ought not to end with just one day!
It certainly was a perfect tour and so convenient for my Pieter.
Our driver and tour–guide in one, certainly did point out some of the areas where 'Gone with the Wind' got made.
It is for American standards a very historic city, not quite as old as Saint Augustine in Florida but close.
Well, those Escada jeans fit perfect and indeed look good, same for any Wolford garment.
      Hugs,
      Mariette

    1. Dearest Debby,
It sure would be a long way for you, coming from the West Coast but tourism in Charleston is high and we must say it is a very clean and polite city apart from its architectural beauty!
      Hugs,
      Mariette

  4. What a wonderful Blog post today, Mariette. Thank you so much for taking the time to share your holiday with us. I really enjoyed all the photos you posted and the weather seems to have been nice and warm. I like those buses where they tell you as they drive what to look out for. We have them also in London.

    God bless.

    1. Dearest Victor,
Thank you and this was a special and very historic tour.
Sure, compared with London, or any city in the Old World, it still resembles quite 'young' but for the USA this is very unique.
      Hugs,
      Mariette

  5. Hello dear Mariette, your post hit home for me today, as my daughter, Jess, just visited Charleston and had the most wonderful time. I did a post about it this morning. I enjoyed seeing all the different sites on your post that I didn't see with her pictures. It's such an old charming city, isn't it? I would love to visit one day.

Wishing you wonderful Spring days, Mariette, and I'm glad you got to visit the sweet city of Charleston.

    1. Dearest Sheri,
Your daughter Jess with little girl no doubt had a marvelous time in Charleston.
      Who would not?!
Did first visit your blog and read it before replying here.
Charleston is a city that will never run out of events and things to explore!
So much history, considering for the USA that is.
Saint Augustine in Florida is the Nation's oldest city but this is also a charming old one.
      Enjoy your spring as well.
      Hugs,
      Mariette

    2. Mariette, thank you for visiting. Our blog should pop up on the reading list with all the others, but I'll have to ask Jess about that. There are always changes with blogger, and it's hard to keep up with it. At least for me. I didn't realize you had another Charleston post before. Will check that out now. : )

    3. Dearest Sheri,
On the reading list it shows up but look to the right here on my blog, under 'My Blog List' you have to go all the way to the bottom as it does NOT update with each posting. That has to do with the FeedBurner.
You might want to look into this: https://support.google.com/feedburner/answer/79005

Younger people of course can cover a lot on foot.

Exactly and Charleston is full of it and so well kept and clean. Also abundant green and trees along the streets.
Hoping that you one day will manage to visit it as well and that giant class ring is quite a design!
