Thanks to the courtesy of Pieter's 2nd cousin, 3rd son of his maternal 1st cousin Thea, we received the wedding picture of Pieter's Parents.
Jos Van de Worp is Chef at Cafetaria/Restaurant het Smulhuis or Smulhuis – van den Broek in Brunssum, The Netherlands.
The name of his beloved Granddaddy who started it, together with his Grandma (younger sister of Pieter's Mom).
June 17, 1924... black bridal gown!
In the center seated is Pieter's Dad Petrus Johannes Vedder to the left and his Mom Maria Margaretha Peer.
To the right of Pieter's Mom (the Bride) is Pieter's Paternal Grandma Johanna Christina Steenbreker and Grandpa Theodorus Wilhelmus Vedder
The Stonebreaker in Indonesia and Pieter's Paternal Grandmother's Name from my previous post (click on link)
Pieter never ever saw a picture of her... She died before Pieter was even born, less than two years after his Parents' wedding.
To the right, wearing a white blouse, is Pieter's Godmother Christina Vedder.
Second from left is Pieter's Godfather Jan (Johannes) Peer.
Quite a treasure to have and so very special for my Pieter.
Leave it to a busy Chef, who already works 80-hours a week for handling this!
His beloved Grandma is the younger sister of Pieter's Mom, standing in–between bride and groom, also wearing a white blouse.
Both of us are very grateful to Jos Van de Worp!

Wow! That is an amazing photo to have. I don't know that I've ever seen such a large group photo like that from way back when. Usually you only see family photos with a few people. So many of these pictures from the past are out there and no one can name the people in them. It's good you got this one now and know who some of the family members are. A true treasure.
ReplyDeleteDearest Tammy,
DeleteYes, those are often 'hidden' treasures to many people since nobody named the people in the picture. SAD things and we all should learn from that.
It must have been a special made photo with the entire family outside (for light I guess) and quite unique indeed.
Hugs,
Mariette
Questa foto è davvero un tesoro.Buon martedì.
ReplyDeleteCara Olga,
DeleteSì c'è un tesoro grande!
Abbracci,
Mariette
A wonderful souvenir of a distant era long past. People lived differently then, and I guess they were much happier than we are now. Today's generation has lost its focus and can't find really happiness, it seems.
ReplyDeleteGod bless.
Dearest Victor,
DeleteYes, a very special memory of Pieter's Parents and he now can see his relatives that he vaguely remembers from childhood and some over the years thereafter.
Sure, back then everything was centered around Family and Faith. The heavenly Family is just as important for inner peace as is the earthly family.
The modern era marxist leaders have done away with both strong family aspects and are even taking more things apart...
Sure, the younger generation will not find happiness without the main ingredients!
Hugs,
Mariette
Abrazos,
Mariette
So beautiful. It is very important to keep memories of our ancestors.

Dearest Christina,
DeleteThank you and sure, that is what and who we are today.
We can never deny our ancestors.
Hugs,
Mariette
Definitely a keeper!
ReplyDeleteDearest Debby,
DeleteWe will treasure this one!
Hugs,
Mariette
How wonderful that you have been given this very special photo of Pieter's parents at their wedding. It is important to know our personal history if possible, and to be able to pass the information on. My husband is very involved with the Genealogy society in Brisbane, and is busily researching his ancestry, locating photos and stories. He has written a book about an interesting uncle. Happy Easter to you both!
ReplyDeleteDearest Patricia,
DeleteYes, this was indeed wonderful to receive!
Your husband is exceptional in writing a book about a relative and wish more people would honor their ancestry.
One day we all will meet again and how wonderful if we already know whom we meet...
Wishing you and yours a meaningful Holy Week and a Happy Easter!
Hugs,
Mariette

What a fabulous and special gift! This is such a wonderful treasure for Pieter! It is such a blessing to have family in the old countries who can help us find these things. I'm thankful for all the shirt-tail cousins I have in all those places who help us with the family connections.
ReplyDeleteDearest Diana,
DeleteYes, this was a very welcome GIFT and Pieter was quite happy with it.
Treasures for passing on; no doubt.
Hugs,
Mariette
