Spring in our Garden

This was a lovely week with sunshine!
Spring is unfolding beautifully!
February 9, I walked over onto the neighbor's property to capture our blooming Japanese magnolia from there.
Just showing the bay window area from our home and the blind wall where the dining room is, no windows on that side.
Now from our side towards our home...
LOVE those perfect flower buds and there were already some petals on the ground.
Wanted to capture them because it would rain in the later afternoon and night.
A pine warbler is enjoying lunch on the tray from our previous Sharp microwave, set on the oak stump.
Happy daffodils near the Japanese Magnolia as you can see by its petals on the ground...
Our Fiberglass Window Boxes are filled with yellow pansies.
Tiggy–Tiger girl is head butting one of the planters...
That's the one where that poor friend cat often lies in for looking at us.
Our Renewal by Andersen bay windows look nice from outside!
A closer look at the yellow pansies.
Also the Vintage Woodworks parts on veranda door and under gable.
Pieter bought the pansies early at our local Home Depot just to make sure we had enough for all window boxes.
On the veranda side they got planted mid January but the bay windows after the Andersen windows were place on January 17.
I've hung the crocheted curtains back after Pieter drilled tiny holes into the fibrex of the new windows.
That worked perfect and after laundering the curtains and then stretching them out while still wet, we hung them on their 925 sterling rings (thin ones!). See post below this one...
Yesterday's photo—dark due to a dreary and rainy day...
The hand crocheted curtains hang perfectly on the new windows.
Detail of screws that Pieter pre–drilled into the fibrex material from Renewal by Andersen windows.
And my 925 silver rings.
Our 2nd Japanese Magnolia is near the flowering Camellia Sinensis Tea Plant.
Now I'm standing on the wood trail for capturing some flowers from our 2nd Japanese Magnolia.
They look perfect against our veranda.
Tiggy Tiger girl came to smell our Narcissus...
She's a tiny but cute kitty!
Senior—just like her Mami...
On Tuesday it was 21°C or 69.8°F...
So we both rolled our bikes...
On Tuesday it was 24°C or 75.2°F
Followed by rain again...

    1. Dearest Kim,
Yes, that was a gorgeous day before the rain came in... So grateful I went outside for capturing it in time!
Guess that is about correct the difference between north and south for you and me.
Similar to The Netherlands where you are—so we're all too familiar with that.
      Hugs,
      Mariette

    God bless.

    1. Dearest Victor,
Guess the spring is the very best setting for our home and it is all so short lived.
No, not yet spring as the weather fluctuates here several times before it 'stays' nice.
Now it is just wet and dreary looking.
      Hugs,
      Mariette

Nuestros pensamientos, los bulbos en flor y también los árboles de magnolia japoneses son encantadores en este momento.
¡A Tiggy–Tiger le encanta hacer las rondas conmigo!

  6. Dearest Mariette,
What a lovely yard you have.
Just a little envious of the spring weather you are enjoying. We have had a few sunny, warm (for here) days. True spring is at least many weeks away.
    enjoy your day...........Suzi

    1. Dearest Suzi,
Thank you and we both are grateful for having planted those two Japanese magnolia trees.
Once a year they are quite a showcase.
True spring even for us is many weeks away and it is dark, wet and dreary right now.
We will have low 30s end of next week during the night... so it goes up and down.
      Hugs,

    Wat heerlijk die lentebode's.
    Leuke poes.
Wat wonen jullie mooi. Prachtig huis.
De gehaakte gordijnen in de erker zijn mooi, passen er perfect bij.

Heerlijk fietsen samen, samen genieten, doen!

      Liefs,
      Mariette

  9. What fabulous Japanese magnolias, in delicate pink. They look beautiful against the background of your pretty house. I love pansies, and enjoy my annual display. It is a lovely idea to plant them in the window boxes like that, a feast of yellow gorgeousness!

Thank you and yes, they looked stunning that day—not so much anymore after wind and rain...
Those pansies are such happy and prolific bloomers, very pleased for having them in our window boxes in time.

  11. It's nice to see your house from all sides, Mariette. It's charming, and I like the color with the white trim. The pink blossom tree looks so pretty, and I used to see them all the time back in my old town. I like the three windows in your house looking outside. It looks very much like Jess' mother-in-law's kitchen, and reminded me of that. Your cat looks like a little cougar with those eyes! We have been getting a little sunshine too, but February is still cold, and Spring doesn't come in the mountains that soon. So, I'm still appreciating the Winter.

    Happy Valentine's Day, dear Mariette.

    1. Dearest Sheri,
Thank you for your remarks on the house. It was quite a challenge for selecting this color—Benjamin Moore Golden Mist but we both are oh so happy we dared to do so!
That was ten years ago, we had it repainted end of 2021 and finished in January of 2022.
Before we built the home, we were driving around the area to find a lot for having breakfast in the morning facing the east. Everybody loves the light and the view and so do we.
Tiggy–Tiger is a mini girl but feisty.
Today is sunny—biking in the planning after days of rain and wind!
Yes, spring is not yet there but we're getting there as time flies.
      Hugs,
      Mariette

  12. Beautiful capture of your home through the Japanese Magnolia! Spring is definitely showing where you live. Love those hand crotched curtains and the jewelry curtain rings attaching them. Such pretty large windows for lots of light. Something I would like. I am wanting more light as I get older. Hugs, Betsy

Thank you and yes, they still are looking good, even after several days of rain.
Today was sunny and 70°F again and we both biked in our short.
The crocheted curtains allow for a great view—a Dutch, German, French tradition.
Indeed, we need light for reading, handwork or whatever!
      Hugs,
