Spring was unfolding so nicely but there is again a freeze warning; unexpectedly as this was not in the weather forecast earlier. Pieter had started to bring all the tropical potting plants out of the greenhouse. Our new Patio along the bay window and the front of the house is being tiled by now. Still needs grouting but soon it is done. Water Control Project about to be finished!
Before we went to The Netherlands we already had all the tiles for the new Patio and here Pieter did set them ready for the men to use.
Glazed Ceramic Tile in the color SUNSET
They are made in USA
We bought them at Home Depot
We are having a nippy wind and a Freeze Warning...
Tonight 29°F with Real Feel 18° or -2°C with Real Feel -8°C...
Let's keep our fingers crossed for the tender plants!
By 18:27 it was already very nippy with the strong winds from the NW with 35 Km p/h.
Hope people in the north will stay warm and safe.
We have had quite a struggle this year with the harsh weather.

ah, maybe one more blast of the winter that doesn't want to let go!
ReplyDeleteDearest Theresa,
DeleteWe don't mind the blast but for our tropical plants it might be damaging...
Hugs,
Mariette
how nice.... we might have snow again in NY !!!
ReplyDeleteDearest Lorraine,
DeleteOh my, snow again in NY. You cannot bring any potplants outside for the time being... Hope it will soon be over with.
Hugs,
Mariette
Hi Mariette, on my side of the world we are expecting snow brrrr.....
ReplyDeleteYour tiles are lovely sweetie, looking forward to viewing how beautiful they will look in your room ;-)
Hugs~
Mari
Dearest Mari,
DeleteHope you soon will see some sunshine as well.
Those are outside tiles, it will create a big patio for lots of potplants.
Stay warm and safe.
Hugs,
Mariette
we had snow today...in TN. My parents have been visiting with us for the last couple of weeks, and they were amazed at how quickly the weather changes around here.
ReplyDeleteDearest Daniela,
DeleteOh my, what a fate... Here in Georgia they used to tell us that it will get her about 7 x spring and often that seems to be true. Warm and sunny for a couple of days and back to freezing again. Hope you had a great time together.
Hugs,
Mariette
Oh, Mariette, I am sorry you are still experiencing this cold weather! It is such an unusual year with this strange weather. Your tiled patio is going to be very nice when you can finally have some nice weather to enjoy it! Here we are having wind and rain, which is not helping our disaster. I hope you get some relief soon from the cold! Hugs xo Karen
ReplyDeleteDearest Karen,
DeleteOh, the weather is always playing tricks with us humans. Let's hope the mud slide will not being repeated and no more lives lost. We have seen many mudslides in the mountains of Central Java, Indonesia where we worked for years. No fun and wind and rain makes it very hard to deal with.
The tiles are all in as of today, some more grouting and than we can start putting the potplants on those tiles. It will start looking nice again.
Tonight again some frost but not as bad.
Hugs,
Mariette
The tiled terrace will be beautiful. The weather is strange and unpredictable everywhere. Here we have rain again!
ReplyDeleteDearest Ada,
DeleteWe used to have just soil with gardenias but the concrete was poured to let the water from the gutter overflow and from the heavens (hemelwater...) run away from the house. We decided to cover it with tiles and now we can beautify it with potplants. We look forward to that stage!
Hugs and hope the rain will stop soon, although we need some for the garden of course.
Mariette
Dearest Mariette,
ReplyDeletethe tiles look wonderful! The patio will be great when it's done!
We still have freezing nights ....
Love and hugs
Claudia
Dearest Claudia,
DeleteToday the tiles got all laid and part is already grouted as well.
Oh my, it seems to be colder now than at the time we were in Europe...
Take care and sending you love and hugs,
Mariette
Liebe Mariette,
ReplyDeleteso erlebt man Höhen und Tiefen.
Sonnige Grüße
Elisabeth
Liebe Elisabeth,
Mariette
Your tiles look great. I hope the cold snap did not stop the men from working.
ReplyDeleteKeep telling your self how nice it will be when you are finished.
Hugs Kay
Dearest Kay,
DeleteNo the men actually finished today with the tiles, still some grouting needs to be done tomorrow and it looks already quite different!
The patio sure will be nice but my biggest worry was about the tropical potplants that got out of the greenhouse due to good weather forecast and suddenly that changed. No way we could get them back inside... So we hope for the best!
Hugs,
Mariette
Lieve Mariette,
Liefs,
Mariette
Dearest Mariette;
ReplyDeleteOMG, a freeze warning!!! What a strange weather we all are having. The other day, my husband's band group attended a festival. We were there from early in the morning till evening. The weather kept changing shining, raining, hail storms at time. It was SO surprising and strange for our area.
Oh, how wonderful your tiled patio will look after all work done♡♡♡ May you have warm day soon;
Sending you Lots of Love and Hugs from Japan to my dear friend in America, xoxo Miyako*
Dearest Miyako,
DeleteOne cannot prepare for such extreme weather changes during a festival like your husband's band group went to. It can only make you feel miserable if not dressed warm enough and catching easily a nasty cold. We will have to live through one more night frost and than it will hopefully stay nice and warm.
The tiles are all laid and now the grouting still needs to be finished. Looking forward to placing our potplants on it.
Hugs and love to you dear friend from the East!
Mariette
Oh my dear friend ... the unpredictable weather really is making it difficult to plan. We are still in minus .. today -12 . Soon the warmer temps will come....hugs, C. (HHL)
ReplyDeleteDearest Celia,
DeleteUnpredictable yes and it really did thwart our plans but luckily the tiles got all laid and partly already grouted today. So that will be soon completed.
Hope you will get your relief from severe frost soon. We all long for spring blossoms; I know that from myself...
Hugs,
Mariette
I can't wait to see the finished product, Mariette - please share! <3
ReplyDeleteDearest Stacy,
DeleteYou sure will get to see the finished part; promise!
That will be soon as today they finished up and tomorrow the final grouting.
Hugs to you,
Mariette
Dear Mariette,i like the colours of the tiles! You patio will look great!!How strange the weather is in your area!
ReplyDeleteHere,its full of Spring!Wish you a warm day!Hugs!!
Dimi...
Dearest Dimi,
DeleteLet's hope that tonight will be the final frost and that we move into spring together with our tiles patio for potplants. Tomorrow they will finish the grouting.
Thanks for wishing us warm days and sending you hugs and love,
Mariette
Dearest Mariette...
ReplyDeleteI do hope you have not lost any of the plants you put out. Losing plants to frost is like losing old friends.
After our sunny week end we have been down in the teens at night and not much above freezing during the day. Thankfully we only had a dusting of the predicted snow, but the wind is fierce!
Dearest Suzi,
DeleteOh, some of our potplants are from the mid 90s so they are old friends! Let's hope they will survive and make it through one more night of frost.
The wind was fierce here yesterday as well, guess that caused all the cold. Hope you too will soon be back to sunny days!
Hugs,
Mariette
We had very nice warm weather, and I thought spring was here. But! Sadly winter is still hanging around..sigh. I hope friends in the north stay warm and safe, too.
ReplyDeleteI look forward to seeing the patio after tiles are placed!
Dearest Tamago,
DeleteOh the very same here, Pieter wore his shorts already! But we got whistled back once again... Old man Winter did come back.
We sure cannot complain compared to the north and we hope all are being warm and cozy and get soon a relief from this never ending winter with snow and all.
Hugs and showing you the tiles soon; they're in and tomorrow the final grouting will be done.
Mariette
Such fluctations in the weather! Sending warm wishes your way, Tammy
ReplyDeleteDearest Tammy,
DeleteLife is full of surprises and especially those that are weather related.
Thanks for your warm wishes, hope they will let it be our last frosty night tonight.
Hugs,
Mariette
lieve Mariette !!!!
Mariette
Mariette
Dear Mariette,
ReplyDeleteHow changeable the weather has been and you would be hoping to have more Spring like weather.
The tiles are going to be lovely and you must be looking forward to having the patio done.
Happy Thursday
hugs
Carolyn
Dearest Carolyn,
DeleteIndeed very changeable but let 's hope it soon will be stable and more reliable.
Yes after tomorrow when the final grouting will get done we can start finishing with putting the potplants out.
Hugs,
Mariette
Dearest Mariette,
ReplyDeleteI ges you has lovely time with husband Pieter somewhers...
he will be back for set them ready for the mens patio glazed ceraic tile.
hope before summer that to will be nice warm day,
Hugs and love to always!
Michiko
Dearest Michiko,
DeletePieter has been rather active this entire week, lending a hand to those tilemen. He is cleaning up after them and things start looking great. Tomorrow the final grouting and than the potplants can be put on. Yes, after tonight the weather will be better too.
Hugs and love to you dear friend.
Mariette
It is cold and wet here no scrap that more like warm and wet but what I do know is that the weather is making me tired
ReplyDeleteDearest Jo-Anne,
DeleteOh my, you are not having fun days either. It is tough at times for finding things to do and when the light is less, due to no sunshine, that affects us all too.
Hope you feel better soon.
Hugs,
Mariette
Hallo Mariette!
Mariette
Mariette, your patio is looking smart. Brrrrrrrrh, your weather sounds awful,I hope you stay warm and snug inside. Spring will be on it's way soon. x
ReplyDeleteDearest Jeanette Ann,
DeleteToday it felt a lot better and let's hope this will be spring for good.
The tiled patio got finished today so a big project is finished once more.
Hugs to you,
Mariette
It will be very nice. We have the same weather here in Sweden, very cold nights.
ReplyDeleteHugs
Dearest Elna,
DeleteThank you and yes, for Sweden I can imagine but you have to consider that we live at the latitude of Tunesia... that is far south from yours. Stay cozy!
Hugs,
Mariette
Grandi abbracci.
Mariette
By the time I got to you, I read that your patio tiling is finished! I look forward to seeing it with your beautiful potted plants. And I hope Spring will settle in your part of the world too!!
ReplyDeleteMany hugs, dearest Mariette!!
Dearest Marie-Anne,
DeleteYes, yesterday they did complete it, including the grouting. Just in time for some rainy days.
But at least the frost is over with and it looks like our tropical potplants did make it.
Hugs to you,
Mariette
