HEALTHY HEART recipe for CREAMED MUSHROOM SOUP

For both of us it is a MUST to prepare our own meals.
So here I love to share with you a Healthy Heart Recipe.
Also for Chronic Kidney Disease where Low Sodium Food is KEY!
CREAMED MUSHROOM SOUP...
Any time I see some great quality mushrooms at Costco, I grab them for using in our kitchen.
These were Baby Bella, 680 g or 24 oz.
For Mushroom Quality Criteria:
~
Pieter had found at Walmart Supercenter, Campbell's Cream of Mushroom Low Sodium Soup and than it disappeared...
So we contacted Campbell's Soup.
It was already on April 19, of this year, that we got a courteous email reply from Mr. Alex Jablokov, Manager, Sales Operations—Campbell's Foodservice.
INGREDIENTS:
24 oz of fresh baby bella, cleaned and sliced
1 bunch of chopped green onions
4–7.25 oz cans of low sodium cream of mushroom
1–14 oz can of coconut milk
3 teaspoons of spicy curry
2 teaspoons of turmeric
pepper to taste
2 tablespoons of butter
Sauté green onions in 2 tablespoons of butter, add sliced mushrooms and spices
Simmer for 5 minutes. Add coconut milk and 4 cans of Cream of Mushroom Low Sodium Soup, let heat through and SERVE...
Made this soup on June 30, after coming back from my solo trip to Europe and I used the double yellow Kalanchoe plant as a quick accent.
The yellow goes well with the soup due to the use of Spicy Curry powder and Turmeric.
Served in our French Pillivuyt soup cups with the Bridal Rose (Sterling, 1903 ) by Alvin soup spoon.

ENJOY!

Limburg 4Days Marches — Fun Fair and Dinner with Friends

You might recall me pointing out that Limburg in the South is a Burgundian province...
And yes, it very much IS!
They know how to celebrate.
So join me for a FUN day in Limburg...
Ellie prepared us a yummy Mushroom Soup for early lunch, so we would have something in our stomach...
By the way, it was through Ellie that I FIRST got introduced to mushrooms as her Dad had three small mushroom houses and I helped them with harvesting, if needed.
At least Ellie is mentioned by me in the preface of our book: modern mushroom growing 2020 harvesting
Highlighted: I changed, mainly due to my best friend's influence. Her Dad had a small mushroom farm and sometimes I helped them out.
After our soup, we drove to Venray where the 4Days Marches would end.
Elvira and Bob's two boys had walked the 10 km and 5 km; each according to their age.
Well, we 70+ girls found us a chair on a terras in front of a Turkish restaurant where we ordered a hot tea.
Yes, wearing hats today with my Escada outfit...
Both of us with hats...
Ellie and I were in a happy mood with all the music from the marching bands.
Bob, as well as Elvira, had volunteered to walk along with the little ones for these successive 4Days Marches.
The weather was perfect!
The eldest one, kind of collapsing after completing his 10 km!
His younger brother also called it QUITS for his 5 km and both are now more interested in the sweet treat from Grandma Ellie...
Wearing proudly their medal for completion!
Just like to share some culture from our Province: THE HISTORY OF FUNFAIR: 5 THINGS YOU MIGHT NOT KNOW←click link
DID YOU KNOW...
The fair was born in the Catholic Church? An annual fair was organized during a consecration. There was then talk about 'the Church Mass'.
The first Dutch fair was in 1023...
Fairs have been created to commemorate the foundation of a Church. The first mass, usually provided by the bishop, was then commemorated, this is where the word fair comes from.
Well, the town where Elvira and Bob live, there was the ANNUAL FUN FAIR...
At the same time it also was going on in the town where son Tristan and Sonja live...
Off we went, walking to the action—which was not far away!
The eldest son wanted to try this attraction.
ALL kids were so happy as for two years due to COVID, there was NO FUN FAIR...
Of course a Cotton Candy had to be tried... turned out to be way too large!
We smashed it into two plastic cups that got taped together by a friendly waiter, for taking home.
We met with other friends around 18:00 at Horst World Kitchen
We actually did not take any photos, and I forgot also my first plate.
This was my second, when I went back for some more sushi to be eaten with chopsticks, as this was healthy for me; no salt added.
Two days later we went to the Fun Fair in Ellie's present home town of Sevenum, where their son also resides.
Absolutely gorgeous weather!
The square near the Saint Fabian and Sebastian's Church is always used for setting up the fun fair.
Also tall linden trees provided shade.
Linden blossoms
Linden blossoms got used during WWII as a substitute for tobacco...
Many lessons to be taught to the children...
Cousins getting along very well!
Soft nougat block that I always loved, and so did Mom, brought her always one back from a Fun Fair I'd been to.

Oh, Elvira had to get into this Fun Fair attraction with her eldest...
It is so high into the air!

Hope you learned a little bit about the rich culture of Limburg and why things are being celebrated still today.

Stay tuned for more...

modern mushroom growing 2020 harvesting in University Textbooks together with Mushroom Cultivator

Yep, our book 'modern mushroom growing 2020 harvesting' is showing up in University Textbooks!

Along with The Mushroom Cultivator by Paul Stamets and J. Chilton, the one we mention on page 33 in our book!
Under our chapter; HISTORY OF MUSHROOM GROWING on page 33 we do refer to The Mushroom Cultivator A Practical Guide to Growing Mushrooms at Home by Paul Stamets and J.S. Chilton.
Also Paul Stamets and J.S. Chilton acknowledged P.J.C. Vedder for his tutelage and contribution to practical mushroom cultivation as an editorial review
In general, our books (all 3 formats) rank rather high like here above:
#158 in Crop Science (Kindle Store)
#395 in Crop Science (Books)
#587 in Education Problem Solving
It is far better to purchase our newest book from 2020 instead of the 1999 print of Cultivo Moderno del Champiñon (Spanish Edition) by P. J. C. Vedder for ONLY US $ 768.57 and it is GONE/SOLD...
All 3 formats are available at 40,000+ booksellers WORLDWIDE as Print on Demand

Over 1st Half of 1974 Our Mushroom Growing Training Centre Yielded 63% First Quality

In relation to my previous post: Our Dutch Mushroom Growing Training Centre Yielded YEAR ROUND TOP QUALITY MUSHROOMS!

This photo shows the facts:

Classes taught by husband Pieter in German
12 growing rooms of 150 m²
12 week schedule
1973 yielded 52 crops x 20.4 kg/m2 with 60% 1st quality; 20% 2nd and 20% 3rd.
1974 1st half 18.6 kg/m2 yielded 63% 1st quality at 2.56 Dutch Guilder average market value.
~
The mushroom industry changed a lot over the last decades.
As a result of better composting techniques, supplementing, climate control and more productive strains, yields of 25–30 kg/m² in two or three breaks are quite normal.
With the introduction of the bunker–tunnel technique, the 12–week schedule inside the growing rooms has been shortened drastically, thus adding a lot to the production!
Of course all that is being mentioned in great detail inside our new book: modern mushroom growing 2020 harvesting | available WORLD WIDE at 40,000+ booksellers as print on demand

HAPPY MUSHROOMS - HOW TO MAKE US HAPPY?

While working and living in Indonesia for the world's largest mushroom farm, I wrote the following:

HAPPY MUSHROOMS

HOW TO MAKE US HAPPY?

1) Please pick us by the 'one–touch–technique' and don't move us into your hand, bruising and scratching us.

2) Don't pull us off the beds, but with a twisting motion; that hurts less – and please; don't scratch us with your long finger nails.

3) Don't cut us wrong because that looks ugly and we often end up with some soil on stem.

4) Please don't throw us into the tray, because that way we get bruised, but gently put us inside.

5) Don't overfill the trays, so that the ones on the bottom are still happy and not crushed.

6) Please pick us in time. We are like you; we like to be pretty and good looking; not oversized or open.

7) Don't make our babies sick by spreading diseases (contamination) with dirty hands, long hair, wide sleeves, bangles etc.

8) Please don't put us in the sun or wind in front of the shed. We are loosing weight very rapidly and our skin will turn brown and even peels off.

9) Don't smash us into the truck, because a number of us will get wounded – but handle the 'keranjang-keranjang' (trays) gentle.

If you don't forget these points, you can still see us smile, after processing, in the glasses, proud to travel to Green Giant in the U.S.A.

We, Dieng Djaya mushrooms, like to be the happiest and prettiest ones and so become the favourite choice of all people in the U.S.A.

My own design laser cut lacquered brass mushrooms that I sold thousands of at Congresses.

My 3rd trip to India - Consulting and Harvesting Video

On Friday morning, February 28, we had packed our suitcases after our consulting period.

We went one last time to the Pond's India mushroom farm... with our luggage.

They wanted to video tape me, about harvesting and certain picking techniques.

Still treasure that tape, however it is not in good quality - lots of back noise!

When clicking on watch on YouTube and viewing it on your PC, you find below the clickable information about what I am talking.

02 28 1992 Pond's India Picking Techniques

Hoping that some mushroom growers still find this training video beneficial for paying close attention to Mushroom Quality Criteria.

Most is in the hands of harvesters!

Like previous videos, this also can function as a kind of Technology Transfer Seminar...

We both received a silk embroidery work as a gift; identical pieces for Team Vedder.

You can see that in a previous post below.

We left our high tops with the poor souls that were working barefoot in the hot 50-70°C compost!

After lunch we left for Coimbatore and later by train to Madras. See post below.

modern mushroom growing 2020 harvesting

Yay, we finally got them all uploaded as of this morning!
Becoming an Indie Publisher and Co-Author is NOT an easy task...
But we can rightfully say: Mission Accomplished
Photos are made at the studio of Gillis Video click for info.
We both are grateful to Mr. Gil for his excellent work and above all, for having a photo with both of us together.
Here we proudly show the Hardback.
Uploaded the EPUB this morning, with IngramSpark, so now all 3 forms are available.
modern mushroom growing 2020 harvesting Ebook: ISBN 978-1-7352413-2-6
modern mushroom growing 2020 harvesting Paperback ISBN 978-1-7352413-0-2
modern mushroom growing 2020 harvesting Hardback ISBN 978-1-7352413-1-9
All, for Worldwide Print On Demand and in English, not American English.
Once more we went back to our roots as we both studied Oxford English...
We had the help of a professional graphic designer: Elisabeth Heissler Design from the U.K.
Found her via Reedsy.com and we selected her, because of her academic and educational publishing experience. Click on link above.
She got me started, after doing the interior design for me, to type away for my 12 chapters and many sub chapters, which I did send her one by one via WeTransfer.
For several days I got this message 'Welcome back! as I continued typing ahead...
Aside from the Interior Design she also did the Typesetting and inserted all Figures and Tables and helped with the more complicated Tables that I could not do... too old for learning it all!
Yep, that's a lot of words! And complicated ones due to the scientific nature of the book.
But I got to the end of its 12 chapters.
We did the final corrections and editing of the Proofs, using Adobe Pro, for placing sticky notes for Elisabeth, to change.
At times you can laugh, like here, with the funny abbreviation of thresholds. You see my sticky note next to it.
Yes, our entire book is done in metric, as that is for us the natural way, being Dutch by birth and also in regard to worldwide publishing.
Funny is that legally, the US also is metric, but it only is being used in the medical world and some other industries...
Final print ready PDF for uploading...
And after Elisabeth's vacation, she did the conversion and formatting for the Ebook
It sure was quite a challenging task with its 448 pages, some 240 Figures and lots of them in full color. Also 30 Tables.
Husband Pieter did the illustrations and most of the photos. Some he got from a University such as an electron microscope enlargement 80.000x of virus particles.
We are grateful to the special people that created the Forewords.
We had NO SPONSORS... this is by no means a book for promoting certain mushroom spawn companies, ingredients, any machinery or turn key projects.
We tried to offer a combination of scientific facts with a good portion of practical (personal) experience, gained over a lifetime.
Also using profound mushroom growing terminology.
Doing it all on our own; purchasing the ISBNs from Bowker Identifier Services for use with each format.
Also going through the very tedious and complicated process of applying for copy rights.
Guess, all government offices are complex! Sure, they make you pay up front... Haha.
The good thing was that after speaking first with a very helpful and friendly lady, I knew I only needed to apply once for all three formats!
We really were so happy after having received the proof prints of our book!
Thanks Mr. Gil for capturing us together... as Team Vedder

Husband Pieter J.C. Vedder also wrote for elementary schools about paddestoelen (mushrooms) and subject matter for Agricultural Schools.
We produced numerous training manuals for Campbell Soup and other companies we worked for...
Aside from the 5 Dutch editions above and the German, here are the other foreign languages, including our newest edition.

On September 4, our Hardback modern mushroom growing 2020 harvesting book is listed as #53 Best Sellers in Crop Science (Books)
On September 6, in the United Arab Emirates ranking #2 in Agricultural Science...
When I woke up, it was #3 in Agricultural Science; #12 in Technology and #28 in Engineering in the UAE
The above is from the UK, also on September 6. #44 in Crop Husbandry; 200 in Agricultural Science and 311 in Agriculture Industry
As of January 25, 2023 there now also is a Russian translation. We granted our Ukrainian friend Maksym Yenchenko legal permission for translating our book, together with his UMDIS team.
Not an easy task during the ongoing war in the Ukraine but they finally managed.
Russian speaking people can find it here: vedder.umdis ←click link.
With thanks and appreciation to Maksym Yenchenko and his team!
