{Miami Hyatt House & Date Palm}

The Hyatt House Miami Airport does have quite a garden. Even on rainy days there is always a dry moment for taking a nice walk around. This is how we did discover those tall, Phoenix dactylifera or Date Palm.
These Date Palm trees look quite Regal...
Zooming in on the Date Branches where those Dates are ripening...
Blogger friend Ria from 'It's Me' does sell those Date Branches from their store in The Netherlands, see link below post.
Quite a sight those Date Branches against the sky...
However not a blue sky, but pregnant with rain.
The Hyatt House Miami Airport has quite a number of Date Palms on their property.

We too have a Canary Date Palm in a pot but there are hundreds of varieties so they don't all grow as majestic and tall as these at the Hyatt House Miami Airport!
      Enjoy your weekend too.

      Liefs,

We always enjoy our time in Miami as there is so much to see and to do. This hotel is like being home; fully equiped kitchen and all. You just go shopping and actually live there. Pool, palm trees and tropical scenery makes for perfect surroundings.

  9. Carissima Mariette,
Those palm trees are gorgeous! We have palm trees growing along the sea shores, and the farthest North is on the Riviera. Some hardier species can be cultivated in gardens even here in Piedmont (not the tall ones).
Have a wonderful weekend, my friend! And thank you for your sweet comments!

The very same for our area, it is subtropical but we cannot grow these tall ones... Which is sad, they add such an exotic beauty to their environment. Our palm tree is getting bigger and bigger though, it seems to be happy but not comparable with these...
Happy weekend and as for those comments; you earn them!

  12. We do have lots of palm trees in Greece of various species, but not with edible dates, although we have the same climate as Florida.

    1. Dearest Marie-Anne,
Guess these in Florida don't ripen as well because the high humidity is not the optimum climate. Tunisia is producing lots of dates with their hot and dry dessert climate and there are hundreds of varieties of date palms too. But those fruits on the branches, the ones that are being sold by florists looked very similar to the ones in Florida.
Hugs to you and happy weekend!

Oh you sure have plenty of palm trees in Greece, it looks so exotic, that and those blue skies and blue seas... Sometimes they are very sensitive to certain diseases and its quite a loss after 20 years.
You for sure will be looking forward to seeing your daughter back home; arriving from Amsterdam airport. What a small world indeed. Enjoy your special time together and happy weekend!

They are majestic and very impressive so high against the sky. But their habitat is such that The Netherlands will not be an ideal environment for them to grow in. We don't have these in Georgia but other varieties. Along the coast you see even more plam trees, it always looks so exotic and we already feel fortunate for having our own palm tree when looking from the balcony...
      Hugs and happy weekend!

  18. That certainly is a beautiful tree, Mariette, but I've always wondered why people in the Deep South (LA, MS, AL) plant them when hurricanes just knock them down. I think they have their rightful place in Florida, but they always seem out of place here in Louisiana.

It looks like you had a great time - such a beautiful place! <3

    1. Dearest Stacy,
Talking about hurricanes, guess Florida is getting its fare share of those! It is so exotic for having them around so they just take the risk.
We had at least one sunny day without rain, for swimming and the rest for visiting friends and shopping. There is so much to do in Florida when you got your own car.
      Hugs,
