  1. Dearest Mariette,
oh I love those tiny Cucumbers! I always have a plant in summertime in my garden! They are delicious and better than any you can buy! They are easy to grow in a pot, they only need to be watered every day ;O)
Glad you found them in your area!
Have a wonderful rest of the week,
    Love and hugs,
    Claudia
P.S. Sorry, I still did not get this thing done, still looking for those golden flat tiny buttons or whatever ....

    1. Liebe Claudia,
Oh, just now I notice I started out in German... Never mind. But now you know that this is a variety of the so-called English cucumber and they are seedless. Mainly grown in greenhouses and kept bee free!
The other variety you are growing in your garden are not as smooth and do have spines, they don't need to be kept away from bees and are indeed very easy to grow. Tomorrow I will do a post about those gherkins as they are quite different.
This is a great snack, very healthy one. As you mention about watering, they do consist about for 90% of water, like most veggies!
Well, take your time, one day you will encounter them I guess. More hopes for Europe because of the tiny size and also because the entire case is from France.
      Hugs,
      Mariette

  4. Hoi Mariette,

      Liefs,
      Mariette

  6. Liebe Mariette,

Didn't know you had greenhouses in your area too.
These are the mini English cucumbers and are mainly being grown inside greenhouses as they need to be kept bee-free. They are smooth skinned and taste never bitter and don't have seeds. Quite different from gherkins, or cornichons which I will show tomorrow. My Dad grew tons of English Cukes and Gherkins and I have picked tons of them...

Again, those will be more than likely the gherkins, that can be grown either in greenhouses or on the fields. The mini English cucumbers in this post are a new variety and mainly being grown inside greenhouses as they have to keep the bees out. For their smooth skin, mild taste and seedless form they are a great snack!

  10. I have never seen these, Dear Mariette! I will have to look for them. My Great Grandfather was a market gardener, too, with 800 acres in New England. My Father grew up on the farm...He had wonderful memories of all the delicious, fresh fruits and vegetables they used to grow. These little cucumbers are perfect to take along in a lunch or for a vegetable tray at a party. Wishing you a sweet week. Hugs xo Karen

This is really a super snack for taking with you; high in fiber and almost no calories!
Fresh fruits and vegetables, straight from the fields are such a blessing. We mainly grew veggies in the greenhouses but on the fields also berries, cauliflower and gherkins too. It all had to be brought to the auction and some of it got picked up by truck, but mainly Dad used our pony Perry for delivering it himself.
Hugs to you and almost weekend again...

  15. Liebe Mariette,

      Liefs,
      Mariette
