{Our Phalaenopsis Orchid}

After you have seen how orchids did grow in Indonesia, under optimum conditions outdoors on our tropical patio, now I like to show you our Phalaenopsis Orchid that resides in the Veranda. Will also show you our Veranda soon...
A beautiful white one and such huge flowers. They bloom for months at a time!
With my hand for comparison...
Beautiful blooms.
At one time we had 17 orchids but we lost them while doing consulting work.
The person taking care of them, had drowned all...
Since than we have not invested into that many again.
Husband Pieter's hand with the blooms...
Do you own some Phalaenopsis orchids too?

  9. What a beautiful flower. You bring such joy by focusing on the small things. Georgia O'Keefe spoke often about how we don't pay attention to the smallness of a flower ...one reason why she painted them big.
    Enjoy the day.....*s*

  18. These are beautiful orchids, Mariette! I have never tried to grow them, do you have growing tips? I have recieved them for gifts, but have never had them bloom again, even though I kept the plant alive. I am glad that you told us that the second hand was Pieter's as I thought, 'oh, my, Mariette has a hairy arm!' Ha ha, a little laugh for you! Of course you have a lovely arm! Hope your week is lovely. xx

    1. Dearest Karen,

Let the roots dry up and in about two or three weeks soak them. NEVER cut off the remaining stems after blooming. Give them full light.
They should reward you when treated that way!

  19. Hoi lieve Mariette,

  22. What amazing, beautiful orchids!! They are very big, too!
In my home back in Japan, we had orchid at our entrance but I think their flower was smaller. They came in pink and white, and they were very pretty.
I enjoyed seeing your orchids! Have a wonderful week, Mariette!

  23. Dear Mariette,
Your orchids are gorgeous. Yes I have two like this one and love them. Right now mine have no blooms, but growing nicely to form new leaves and getting large. They do not require much water, about once every 2 weeks. So sorry to hear your large collection were drowned. Looking forward to viewing your Veranda. Thank you for sharing your pretties blooms.
    Have a wonderful week.
    Hugs, Celestina Marie
