Not only for both of us and our felines we got a roof above our head, but also for our many garden birds.
Have a look at this very cute HOME SWEET HOME Bird House that we received as a gift from our German 'Son' and his family. We hung it on our Holly tree so we can see it from the kitchen bay window and from the veranda. It has been a favorite with birds!
Indeed: HOME SWEET HOME
Here you see the gazebo in view, still with the old roof on...
Just to put it into perspective, here you can see the HOME SWEET HOME Bird House against the stem of the holly tree. Nice at eye level for us to watch the Carolina wrens fly in and out while we enjoy breakfast or have our tea in the veranda.
Also the hummingbird feeder (one of several) is next to the bay window and in view.
Do you have any bird houses within view at your home? Or hummingbird feeders?

Schattige vogeltjes!
Liefs,
Mariette
Dearest Mariette,
ReplyDeleteThe bird house is perfect next to the holly tree; it contrasts and blends with the tree trunk. The birdies are definitely living in style! And you get to watch them from your petty bay window!
I don't think I've mentioned it before but the color of your house is perfect. I love the contrast between the house and trim. Each makes the other pop.
I think I would want to live in your gazebo. It's all most enticing!
With wishes that you are drying out a bit..........*s*
that was supposed to be 'pretty bay window'.
DeleteDearest Suzi,
DeleteIndeed, that bird house does belong with the holly tree and within view for us from our bay window.
Thanks for your compliments on the house and gazebo.
Indeed, we are drying out, there is a bit of wind too and that helps!
Hugs,
Mariette

Liebe Irmi,
Lieber Gruss,
Mariette
Good Evening Mariette, Firstly, I wanted to say thank you so much for telling me the name of my mysterious plant which I grew in Cyprus. I have made a note of it, Wisteria Frutescens, Amethyst Falls. I can see why it is named so, as the flowers do look like little Amethysts. It was such an easy and beautiful plant to grow.
ReplyDeleteYour little bird house is such a wonderful gift and to watch the birds popping in and out whilst you drink your tea must be lovely.
George is busy building me a bird house at the moment, ready for the Autumn when food will be scarce for the birds. He is also making me a little insect home where stray bees and insects can hibernate for the winter. I encourage a lot of wildlife into my garden during the summer, so the least I can do is care for them during the winter.
Best Wishes
Daphne
Dearest Daphne,
DeleteYou are most welcome for that beautiful Wisteria's name!
Indeed this bird house is a perfect gift that keeps on giving in a way.
At breakfast, lunch or whatever we can observe those wrens that occupy their special home.
We also do provide food and shelter for our wildlife and that earned us our Backyard Wildlife HABITAT Certificate from August 1997.
Have a lovely continuation of the week.
Mariette
Lieve Mariette,
Lieve groetjes,
Mariette
Dearest Mariette,
ReplyDeleteYour bird house is SOOOO cute and sweet!!! You have a big heart for animals! :) It must be such a joy to watch the birdies from your wonderful bay window and veranda!
Big hugs!
Dearest Anna,
DeleteThank you SOOOO much! Yes, we are fortunate for having been raised to appreciate nature and when that is instilled in you as a child; you are programmed for life! We enjoy them so much, especially those tiny wrens are so hyper and cute when they look for spiders and bugs to feed on.
Hugs to you from a wet Georgia as again it's pouring down after about 4 days without rain...
Mariette
Sometimes I wonder what birds think of little bird houses..............
ReplyDeleteDearest Jo-Anne,
DeleteGuess they are as proud of their homes as we are!
Hugs,
Mariette
Goede morgen Mariette,
Groetjes,
Mariette
Such a lovely bird house.
ReplyDeleteHugs
Dearest Elna,
DeleteIt sure is a lovely one and we observed many times that a happy wren family got raised in there.
Hugs,
Mariette
I love your 'two love birds house,' and of course the adorable 'bird house' too, lol.. I love animals so much too, like you dear Mariette! When we lived in our huge house in the country, with lots of ground, we had a cute bird house and my Little girls loved to see them from the window....wish I had Access to camera like we do now!. Thank you for your sweet and kind comments, lovely and generous friend.
ReplyDeleteBig hugs,
FABBY
Dearest Fabby,
DeleteThanks for loving both homes!
Yeah, we wish we had digital cameras back than... but you for sure have lots of fond memories on your retina! That's what counts. Guess you both are smart for having moved to where you are now. Lovely and a lot less maintenance!
You're welcome about those comments. Your blog-posts are amongst the most interesting and informative ones and it is ALL personal content; nothing 'borrowed' by copy & paste technique, like so many others do. For that fact alone, you deserve the best comments!
Hugs,
Mariette
Mariette,
ReplyDeleteI have to say that you've had three wonderful posts in a row. I could keep going. Your home looks so charming, and how nice the bird feeder looks next to the Holly tree. There's nothing like home, is there? It is one of my favorite places to be.
Love,
~Sheri
Dearest Sheri,

ReplyDeleteis it made by your Husband Pieter?
Knowing that He has capability in everything;).
have a great week for both of you
Dearest Ayu,
DeleteThanks for your comment but no, Pieter did not make this. It was gifted by our German 'son' and his family. Some other 'hands' made this lovely piece.
Have a lovely week ahead.

Mariette
