Already on June 17, we had our 6 different Hydrangea varieties blooming and husband Pieter took photos of them. A bit late, but still I want to share these beauties with you.
First a Mophead Hydrangea in an exceptional purple color that we got from our friends the Bogles.
Second variety is a Hydrangea Macrophylla Ayesha.
These Hydrangea Macrophylla Ayesha appear in soft tones from pale pink to light blue...
These are beauties and the color varies from spot to spot.
Here you see the pale pink ones...
A blue Mophead Hydrangea...
It is difficult to tell which one is my favorite but I sure love this color!
Hydrangea Serrata Pretty Maiden, a Lacecap variety.
And a White Mophead Hydrangea...
Lots of Blue Mophead Hydrangeas.
These ordinary Mophead Hydrangeas are very pretty too.
So which one is your favorite?

Dear Mariette,
ReplyDeleteI love all your beautiful hydrangeas - such gorgeous colours and they must look wonderful all around your garden.
We have one in a pot that has been dormant most of the winter and just coming out with lots of new leaves.
Also I love how fabulous your home is looking with the new coat of paint and everything - don't think I have remarked about the finished look.
Hope that you are enjoying the weekend
Sending love and hugs
Carolyn

I hope you are enjoying the summer days, dear.

Liefs,
Mariette
Wow your hydrangeas are all vert pretty! Each color and each look is beautiful. I love them all, but especially Hydrangea Serrata Pretty Maiden...what a unique look!
ReplyDeleteDearest Tamago,
DeleteThank you, they are all pretty. It depends on the light at the moment of taking a photo and certainly Serrata Pretty Maiden does stand out!
Happy new week to you.
Hugs,
Mariette
Dearest Mariette,
ReplyDeleteWhat lovely pictures Pieter took of you hydrangeas. I am always drawn to blue and white varieties, but then I have a real weakness for blue and white flowers in general.
Enjoy your Sunday...........*s*
Dearest Suzi,
DeleteIt is hard to tell which ones are prettier... also depending on the light that is shed on them. They are lovely and do last for quite a while.
Thanks for your compliment and Pieter took some great photos indeed.
Hugs,
Mariette
Couldn't pick a favorite. All hydrangeas make my heart sing! Lovely photos, Mariette.
ReplyDeleteDearest Sarah,
DeleteIndeed, it will be hard for picking a favorite... They are such a rewarding variety that blooms so abundantly.
Thanks for your compliment.
Hugs,
Mariette
Hoi Mariette,
Lieve groetjes,
Mariette
Dearest Mariette,
ReplyDeleteMy favorite the pale pink, mmm.. honestly I love them all.
you have a beautiful garden.
wishing you a great sunday
hugs to you
Dearest Ayu,
DeleteThank you and oh, it is awfully hard for picking a favorite here!
Our Sunday was lovely to begin with, we could walk in the garden, however soggy but now it is already pouring down for more than an hour.
Happy new week to you!
Hugs,
Mariette
Bj, Manuela
ReplyDeleteDearest Manuela,
DeleteThanks for your compliment and you are more than welcome to visit our garden any time!
Happy new week to you.
Hugs,
Mariette
Oh they are all so pretty, love the colours
ReplyDeleteDearest Jo-Anne,
DeleteIndeed, hard to prefer one over the other...
Hugs,
Mariette
Hello Mariette, This year seemed to particularly favor this flower--in Ohio, I saw them in so many gardens. I remember one garden that had a profusion of hydrangeas in every color forming a bank at one side.
ReplyDeleteDearest Jim,
DeleteIn previous years when I did post about them I mentioned that husband Pieter had given them water as Hydrangeas love to drink... This year they got their share and more than that. We're getting tired of our torrential rains. It never dries out this way.
Hugs,
Mariette
Your garden must take your breath away with beauty.
ReplyDeleteDearest Kay,
DeleteNo at the moment it is one mud puddle... We have had for over two months torrential rains.
Hugs,
Mariette
the colors and sizes are absolutely wonderful. I can just imagine the impact they make "in person". Feel so serene and relaxing. Hope the rain has let go and the water receeded
ReplyDeleteDearest Daniela,
DeleteThanks for your comment and kind words.
As for the rain, no it came back this afternoon with more strength than before. Again the bridges got inundated. One gets so sick and tired of it. No way we can walk or bike...
Hugs,
Mariette
Dearest Mariette, It is so hard to decide. I have a few mop heads and I love those but the Ayesha is new to me. I love how the petals cup in. They appear very flirty. They would look fabulous in a large bouquet. I think they are my favorite.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing the beauty of the blossoms.
Love to you, Ginger
Dearest Ginger,
DeleteI'm with you on that as they all look gorgeous! Oh, we have had these Ayesha for years already. Glad you enjoyed them and you're always welcome neighbor!
Hugs to both of you,
Mariette
ReplyDeleteGroeten Janny
Lieve Janny,
Liefs,
Mariette
Dearest Mariette, the pictures than took Pieter are amazing ! I can't decide which color is the most beautiful !I liked all ! Here is not blooming , I see a lot of them at Mount Pelion because there the vegetation is lush and humid climate !Thank you for sharing your beautiful garden !
ReplyDeleteDearest Olympia,
DeleteGlad you enjoyed them and we have the photos. We don't know what will be left from our garden with all these floods... We're fighting the water in the entire east part of Georgia due to the tropical storm with heavy rains.
Hugs,
Mariette
Adoro le ortensie blu!!!
ReplyDeleteFantasy Jewellery
Cara Serena,
DeleteGrazie e anch'io le adoro!
Abbraccio,
Mariette
Mariette
Dearest Mariette,
ReplyDeleteYour Hydrangeas are simply gorgeous, ALL of them!!!! I love the colors and the different shapes, it's really hard to pick a favorite one... The Macrophylla Ayesha variety is very unusual (not sure I had ever seen it before) and I find it very sweet with its little "curled" blossoms, lovely!
Have a beautiful week, Mariette! Lots of hugs!
Dearest Anna,
DeleteThanks for your liking them. Indeed the Macrophylla Ayesha is very pretty but we have them already for quite some years.
Enjoy your summer week!
Hugs,
Mariette
Dear Mariette, such beautiful Hydrangeas you have in your garden!!
ReplyDeleteI like the one with the blue color!!!
In my area its dificult to grow up!!
But i find a lot of them in the Island of Lefkada.
Have a wonderful new week!!Hugs!!
Dimi...
Dearest Dimi,
DeleteThank you for your compliment and indeed, Hydrangeas love to drink lots of water or else the wilt away and let their heads hang. But at the moment we get flooded so that will not be good either.
Happy summer week and hugs to you,
Mariette
Liebe Mariette,
Irmi
Liebe Irmi,
DeleteDanke für deine liebe Antwort!
Geniesse noch eine schöne August Woche.
Lieber Gruss,
Mariette
Wow Mariette, your flowers are out of this world! I have to say, the Hydrangea's are hand down my favorite!!! Have you ever dried them? How lovely to have all this beauty in your own backyard!
ReplyDeleteDearest Victoria,
DeleteThank you for your praise!
Yes we've dried them before but I far more prefer to have them fresh and with their bright color.
We do hope they survive all the flooding since those photos got taken.
Hugs,
Mariette
Beautiful x 6! I love the hydrageas, I discovered them in a travel to Asturias in the north of Spain. But unfortunately they are not very common in the south by the heat.
ReplyDeleteHugs from Jerez in the heat southern Spain
Dearest Marina,
DeleteHydrangeas do love plenty of water. As for heat, we have temperatures in summer of over 40°C so that is like tropical climate for two months of the year.
Wish we had some dry heat for now!
Hugs,
Mariette
ReplyDeleteCara Lory,
DeleteGrazie mille!
Un abbraccio forte per te.
Mariette
Dearest Mariette,
ReplyDeleteThe blue Hydrander called Macrophilla is really nice. The photos that Pieter took as well certainly enhance the flowers even more. There are many soft tones within the flowers and the colour varieties are very interesting as well. Hyrangeas are a very good hand me down and are very sterdy and can grow anywhere. Even when they are dried they maintain their colour and can be made into a floral arrangement and framed for keep sake.
Hugs and love to always
Michiko
Dearest Michiko,
DeleteHydrangeas are such rewarding plants and usually not very demanding.
We usually don't dry them as we have many fresh flowers almost year round. Fresh is far better than anything dried!
Hugs and love to you,
Mariette
Dearest Mariette,
ReplyDeleteWow, I LOVE hydrangeas with any colors and shapes of the flowers♡♡♡ I hardly can choose my favorite p;) You made me feel longing for the rainy season with these beautiful flowers(*^_^*)
PS> I wish my husband has interest in taking pictures for me, haha. Please send your sweet husband my regards.
Sending you lots of love and hugs from Japan, xoxo Miyako*
Dearest Miyako,
DeleteThanks for your visit and sure they are all lovely! Why do you think we have six varieties? If it would be that easy to select one favorite we would have.
My husband Pieter has been a great photographer all of his life, so this comes natural and I don't even have to ask him.
Best regards to both of you.
Hugs,
Mariette
