On March 4, 1988 we had dinner at our home for our closest friends, informing them that Campbell Soup forced us to move to Pennsylvania.
Such a SAD tiding!
We loved Dublin, Georgia and our friends and home and garden...

Hello Mariette, It is such a nice feeling to create a comfortable and attractive home, and then to entertain friends in it. I think that this is becoming a lost art. Younger people often just don't want to bother, and at the other end of the scale some of the newer McMansions are so elaborate and out-scaled that no one could ever feel comfortable in them!

Dearest Jim,
DeleteYes, it is a very sad fact for the young(er) generations.
First of all, creating a home, a nest, that resembles 'you' and your interests, is not being done by most. They blindly follow the 'trends' that are being SOLD to them. That has no soul however! You are so right about some new McMansions, they lack any soul on the inside but guess they're only built to impress on others, from the outside...
Hugs,
Mariette
What a beautifully set table. So inviting. It shows what a kind, warm and generous hosts you were. So lovely.
ReplyDeleteGod bless you both.
Dearest Victor,
DeleteThank you and we always have tried to do the very best for those we love!

Your dinner table setting is lovely Mariette. So sad you had to leave, especially after painting the whole of the outside of the house.. and so much more ✨
ReplyDeleteDearest Grace,
DeleteThank you, always put my heart in it and try to present always a feast for the eye as well.
We did so much to our nest and garden but in the end it sure did help us sell it fast and well.
Hugs,
Mariette

ReplyDeleteIt must be hard to have to move when you love your current residence, leaving home and friends. But you sure made lots of fond memories in each chapter of your life :-)
Dearest Tamago,
DeleteThank you so much! We always tried to be good hosts to our friends and family when they were over.
Yes, ti was very hard, leaving our tamed squirrels behind and a beautiful garden. The house was just all touched up...
That's what you do, enjoy the time while it lasts, living very conscious as you never know how long a good thing will last.
