Below this post you find more links with also photos as a Card Holder. Hope you enjoy this special piece of silver work by German Silversmith Christoph Widmann since 1919.

Now showing you the equal back side of this fine master piece in silver.

{Silver Grape Scissors with Roses and Champagne Grapes}

On August 22, I was finally able to make some outdoor photos, using our Silver Grape Scissors and the Champagne Grapes that we found at Trader Joe's the week before. I had not seen them in quite a while...
So it's off to our balcony, the new polyurethane balustrade and railings are not yet painted but nevertheless.
Here they are... Silver Grape Scissors from Sweden, on our silver gallery tray.
Again it is shown with two gifts that I received from blogger friend Susan, the author of Ava Grace's Closet; the filet lace hand crocheted doily that lines the tray and the very finely crocheted lace table topper.
On the silver gallery tray are two Baccarat Champagne glasses...
Susan's Mama did such an excellent job on crocheting these pieces.
Thanks again Susan!
Have you ever tasted Champagne Grapes?
They are so sweet and a lot tinier than regular seedless grapes.
Here you can see the roses and leaves on the Silver Grape Scissors.
Some sweet golden wine is poured into the Baccarat champagne glasses.
Some laughing cow cheese and crackers from Costco, to go with the grapes and wine.
Mary's Gone Crackers are ORGANIC • GLUTEN FREE made with Whole Grains & Seeds and contain no added oils or trans-fats, sugar or dairy.
Why don't you join?
China is French GIEN ROSE.
For the moment, the sun is shining...

What are Champagne Grapes? Champagne grapes are the name given to a specific type of grape, the Corinth. They are also being used for black currants.

{Our Gazebo with Chair Cushions}

On August 29, the day that it was exactly 30 years ago that we immigrated to the USA, from The Netherlands, we did have a mud-free gazebo with the washed concrete tile path and entrance being cleaned by husband Pieter. We felt confident that we will have no more tropical thunderstorms changing our outlook. So finally an entire lovely, sunny week with sunshine and lower humidity and also some wind. Perfect for drying out!
It was on July 8, that I wrote my post about {WHAT is THIS?} when I had rescued our gazebo's cushions.
Link you find below this post, for those that missed it...
Here they are!
On July 12, they had their 15th birthday but we could not use them yet with all our flash flood warnings and reality.
We forgot to place the table back in the center of the gazebo... I saw this only after I uploaded my photos!
Guess we both were too excited of finally being able to use our gazebo!
Our gazebo got a new aluminum roof from Interlock Roofing as well.
We did place a new fan from Wayfair after the painters had finished their painting job here as well.
They did such a meticulous job with their two coatings of Benjamin Moore paint!
This Westinghouse Lighting 30" Wengue 3 Blade Ceiling Fan, has an incredible 18 degrees blade pitch!
It is in Chrome with Wengue Beech Blades.
Stepping back, towards the house...
The Vintage Woodworks ginger bread in the top part is adding such charm.
So does the Aluminum Slate roof in Aged Copper from Interlock Metal Roofing!
This is with the steps in the back, since we live on a slope. The house is now visible to the left.
There is a little patio at the landing of the steps...
Enjoying our tea together!
With a rice cake and some unsalted mixed nuts...
The container in the back is where we store those cushions and the top table cloth.
There is a round vinyl tablecloth with elastic underneath. Easy to wipe clean with moist wipes from Costco.
So finally you got to see the cushions in our gazebo!
Wearing my precious 925 silver rose ring (lost that in April of 2019...) and you see the vase with rain lilies with perfect rose bud in silver!

{Dinner for Friends using Nito Place Mats}

On Saturday, June 29, I did not like to use a linen table cloth or place mats for dinner with friends. After just having ironed lots of linens, I opted for the use of our woven Philippine Nito place mats instead. A gift from a dear friend who is like a sister to me. They are really elegant looking and also very easy to wipe clean, if needed.
Hydrangeas in the Wedgwood vase are in a very special color and were given to us by one of the dinner guests.
Not as a cut flower but years ago as a starter to grow into a bush!
As a starter, we had mussels from Costco, served as amuse bouche, in little porcelain mini sauce pans and spoons.
To the left are two courser rattan place mats, same size.
My china is from the 70s my Seltmann Weiden Mirabell in white.
Crystal is Baccarat, Piccadilly.
Flatware is my Gero Zilmeta 528 Menuet and silver Alvin Bridal Rose gumbo soup and dessert spoons. Silber-und-Rosen-Shop; yes Johanna, you will LOVE this Rose silverware... Johanna is a dear friend from Germany who wrote a book about Silver Rose Flatware; 'Rosen-Bestecke' and also loves anything with roses, just like me!
A closeup of my octagonal china by Seltmann Weiden, Mirabell pattern in white and made in Germany.
The porcelain amuse bouche spoons we bought in Yogjakarta, Indonesia while working and living there.
The mini sauce pan amuse bouche servers I bought at a whole sale store in The Netherlands, with my best friend.
Silver napkin rings are custom made for us in Indonesia.
Napkins are from Horchow.
Overview of the table setting.
Yes, the month of June did yield some pretty Gardenias for gracing the dinner table.
Do you also opt for using place mats out of convenience?
The heat of summer is not that inviting for ironing table linens...
We are looking forward to coming Saturday when one of the dinner guests will be hosting at her place.
Always fun for not having to do all the work yourself!

{Our Victorian hybrid Pelargonium Rosebuds}

Regardless the heavy rain that we got from the beginning of June till now, we managed to have beautiful Victorian hybrid Pelargonium Rosebuds on June 7. Victorian hybrid features clusters of tiny double blossoms, like a mini bouquet of roses. In years past, the blooms were used for small corsages or to decorate a buttonhole. Have you ever seen them?
Here you see in my silver Rose vase from left to right: the Geranium 'Pink Rosebud' (Pelargonium hybrid); 'Appleblossom Rosebud' and the 'Red Rosebud'. Below post you find link with address in Connecticut where we obtained also ours. There also is a link to a blogger in Norway with an even more extensive collection.
Not so easy to capture them during cloudy weather but this photo does show them clearly.
'Pink Rosebud' at the bottom; 'Appleblossum Rosebud' in the center and 'Red Rosebud' at the top.
Here is the 'Appleblossum Rosebud' Pelargonium budding inside our greenhouse...

This is a previous photo with the 'Red Rosebud' Pelargonium hybrid.
Yup, that's what my tiny silver vase is; from an antique silver handled walking stick...
Hope you enjoyed these mini rose bouquets!

{Our Queen Elizabeth AARS Rose}

Along with singer Lynn Anderson who sang: I never promised you a rose garden we can say:
I beg your pardon,
I never promised you a rose garden.
Along with the sunshine,
There's gotta be a little rain sometimes.
Link above is from YouTube and below this post you will find a link for the full lyrics.
Husband Pieter did bring in some beautiful roses the other day; with rain drops on them. One was our Queen Elizabeth AARS Rose that I like to share here with you.
LOVE those rain drops on this Queen Elizabeth Rose.
Don't you like it too?
Husband Pieter took these photos...
Fresh from our garden...
This photo I took later with my iPhone after I'd placed it inside this silver rose vase...
Crocheted pineapple doily is done by my sister-in-law Elly.

{Our Yellow Midas Touch Roses & my Embroidered Yellow Roses}

Not only real yellow Midas Touch roses but also my yellow embroidered roses that I cross stitched on a rayon damask tablecloth.

  • That was part of my trousseau at the time I first got married. It is French 3 Suisses.

  • This is almost heaven; coffee with chocolate, silver roses, real roses and my hand embroidered cross stitched  roses...

  • Why not join me for a cup of coffee  & chocolate, over reading the mail...?

  • This silver teaspoon with rose is one of my favorites.

  • My Giovanni Raspini silver rose

  • Pure bliss with yellow roses in a bud vase with roses in silver!

  • We MISS our Midas Touch roses...

  • Are they not a dream?

  • Whomever created these silver roses on that bud vase I admire...

{Our Yellow Midas Touch Roses}

Here I would like to show you our lovely Yellow Midas Touch Roses. These photos are form 2009 and meanwhile we have lost all our Midas Touch roses due to drought and heat...

  • The little table square I have sewn myself.

  • The yellow Limoges cup was a gift from a friend.

  • The silver rose is my personal Giovanni Raspini rose. Sorry but all others are sold out from my Zen Cart on line boutique Mariette's Back to Basics.

  • It looks almost like a still life painting...

  • So utterly romantic

Do you love yellow roses as well?
