{Our Patio Tiles & Freeze Warning}

Spring was unfolding so nicely but there is again a freeze warning; unexpectedly as this was not in the weather forecast earlier. Pieter had started to bring all the tropical potting plants out of the greenhouse. Our new Patio along the bay window and the front of the house is being tiled by now. Still needs grouting but soon it is done. Water Control Project about to be finished!
Before we went to The Netherlands we already had all the tiles for the new Patio and here Pieter did set them ready for the men to use.
Glazed Ceramic Tile in the color SUNSET
They are made in USA
We bought them at Home Depot
We are having a nippy wind and a Freeze Warning...
Tonight 29°F with Real Feel 18° or -2°C with Real Feel -8°C...
Let's keep our fingers crossed for the tender plants!
By 18:27 it was already very nippy with the strong winds from the NW with 35 Km p/h.
Hope people in the north will stay warm and safe.
We have had quite a struggle this year with the harsh weather.

  5. Oh, Mariette, I am sorry you are still experiencing this cold weather! It is such an unusual year with this strange weather. Your tiled patio is going to be very nice when you can finally have some nice weather to enjoy it! Here we are having wind and rain, which is not helping our disaster. I hope you get some relief soon from the cold! Hugs xo Karen

      Oh, the weather is always playing tricks with us humans. Let's hope the mud slide will not being repeated and no more lives lost. We have seen many mudslides in the mountains of Central Java, Indonesia where we worked for years. No fun and wind and rain makes it very hard to deal with.
      The tiles are all in as of today, some more grouting and than we can start putting the potplants on those tiles. It will start looking nice again.
      Tonight again some frost but not as bad.

      We used to have just soil with gardenias but the concrete was poured to let the water from the gutter overflow and from the heavens (hemelwater...) run away from the house. We decided to cover it with tiles and now we can beautify it with potplants. We look forward to that stage!
      Hugs and hope the rain will stop soon, although we need some for the garden of course.

      The patio sure will be nice but my biggest worry was about the tropical potplants that got out of the greenhouse due to good weather forecast and suddenly that changed. No way we could get them back inside... So we hope for the best!

      Liefs,
      Mariette

      Ja, gisteren in mijn blog over onze 1987 PC zonder Internet geeft daar wel uitleg aan. We hóórden toen veel minder dan vandaag met de social media waardoor we alles à la minuut te horen èn te zien krijgen. Dus lijkt het vele malen erger dan het in werkelijkheid is.
      We zullen spoedig weten hoe onze tropische potplanten het hebben overleefd als we ze op de nieuwe tegels gaan zetten. Vandaag is het zover klaar gekomen. Nog een gedeelte invoegen en dan is ook die grote klus gedaan.

    OMG, a freeze warning!!! What a strange weather we all are having. The other day, my husband's band group attended a festival. We were there from early in the morning till evening. The weather kept changing shining, raining, hail storms at time. It was SO surprising and strange for our area.
    Oh, how wonderful your tiled patio will look after all work done♡♡♡ May you have warm day soon;

      One cannot prepare for such extreme weather changes during a festival like your husband's band group went to. It can only make you feel miserable if not dressed warm enough and catching easily a nasty cold. We will have to live through one more night frost and than it will hopefully stay nice and warm.
      The tiles are all laid and now the grouting still needs to be finished. Looking forward to placing our potplants on it.

    1. Lieve Nieneke,
      Jazeker hopen wij dat ook. Dit is niet echt zo bedoeld als terras maar het is zo geworden voor het water contrôle projekt waar Pieter de grond afgroef, alle gardenias eruithaalde en toen hebben we er beton op laten storten. Het glooit weg van het huis dus zo loopt al het hemelwater en ook het overtollige dakgootwater wèg van het huis. Dus nooit geen water meer in de Rose Suite! Er loopt een aluminium goot aan het einde van de beton, nu dus tegels. Dit heeft manlief zo uitgeknobbeld en tijdens de tornado met enórm veel regen is alles goed gegaan toen wij in Nederland waren. Dus daar zijn we héél blij mee; nooit geen zorgen meer! Wij kregen anders het water van de buren die hoger liggen aan de straat. Wonen in een heuvelachtig gebied is anders dan Nederland dat zo plat is als een pannekoek, op zuid Limburg na.
      Liefs,

Grandi abbracci.
