We have had now several days with heavy rain and that is not so good for blooming azaleas and other blossoms... But here are some photos from our azaleas before the rain:
Are those flowers not a DREAM?
To the left you can see the newly raised, wood trail, as seen from the gazebo. Pond is to the right and center.

ReplyDeleteDearest Theresa,
DeleteYes, they indeed were beautiful!

Dearest Mariette,
ReplyDeleteyour Azaleas are wonderful!
Wishing you and Pieter a lovely weekend!
love and hugs,
Claudia
Dearest Claudia,
DeleteThank you and they sure looked perfect before this long and heavy rain...
Happy weekend to you as well and lots of love and hugs.
Mariette
ReplyDeleteBuon fine settimana,
V.
Cara V.,
DeleteSappiamo questa sensazione troppo bene, come abbiamo provato tante cose e spesso invano... Buon fine settimana a voi e la vostra.
Abbracci,
Mariette
Buon fine settimana a voi.
Baci,
Mariette
Liefs,
Mariette
Hello Mariette, I totally agree with you about the charm of azaleas, especially in a wooded setting such as yours. Here, they are planted in quantity along the streets, often in concrete planters, and while they are attractive and colorful, the same magic isn't quite there. Thank you for these photos, which make me homesick for the U.S., in spite of the abundance of azaleas here!
ReplyDelete--Jim
Dearest Jim,
DeleteOh, the charm about azaleas makes me reminiscent about Mom & Dad's very first trip to the USA, in 1987, from April 20 till May 16 and we took them to Savannah for watching the Southern charm of azaleas. That has been the best memory of beautiful azalea blossoms for us as well.
In planters it never is the same but it foremost is also the climate. Glad we have some good photos of this year's blossoms as now everything is so soggy after a full week of rain and still no end in sight.
Glad you enjoyed them and wishing you a happy weekend!
Kindest regards,
Mariette
Liebe Mariette,
ReplyDeletedas bestätige ich: BEAUTIFUL!
Alles Liebe
Elisabeth
Liebe Elisabeth,
Mariette
Very pretty! Haven't seen that muted pink before. I grew up with bushes and bushes of hot pink azalea in our backyard in Louisiana. Your yard looks lovely. The rain will freshen everything else. We have dust, dust and more dust. Ugh! Best wishes, Tammy
ReplyDeleteDearest Tammy,
DeleteThank you and yes, instead of dust, this probably is far better. There is enough of everything in this world; rain and sunshine but the distribution is often quite off.
Hope you can manage, however hard...
Hugs,
Mariette
Liebe Mariette,
ReplyDeletewunderschöne Azaleen hast du. Diese zarten Blüten
vertragen in der Tat keinen Regen. Schön, dass du die
weiße Blüte vorher noch fotografiert hast.
Einen guten Start ins Wochenende wünscht dir
Irmi
Liebe Irmi,
ReplyDeleteCara Lory,
DeleteGrazie cara e ci siamo goduti i pochi giorni che abbiamo avuto quei fiori. Ora tutto è andato a causa pioggia una settimana e ancora in corso...
Abbracci e buon fine settimana.
Mariette
Dear Mariette, your azaleas are so preety!!
ReplyDeleteLovely colours too!!Wonderful Spring flowers!
Have a wonderful weekend!Hugs!
Dimi...
Dearest Dimi,
DeleteThank you we love these varieties.
Happy weekend to you as well.
Hugs,
Mariette
Beautiful photos Mariette, they look so delicate.
ReplyDeleteDearest Sami,
DeleteThank you and yes because they are so delicate they all turned brown from the rain...
Hugs,
Mariette
Buon fine settimana e abbracci,
Mariette
Sorry to read you have had heavy rains, dearest Mariette!
ReplyDeleteAt least you enjoyed your beautiful azaleas before the bad weather! They are indeed gorgeous!!!
I wish you a lovely weekend!
Many hugs!
Dearest Marie-Anne,
DeleteWe cannot control the weather and this is very wet for the time being. Our beautiful Angelique tulips got drowned too and the bulbs rotted away... Sad sight but there's nothing we can do about it. At least we captured these on camera in their full beauty.
Happy weekend and lots of hugs,
Mariette
Lieve Mariette,
Mariette
Now that is pretty
ReplyDeleteDearest Jo-Anne,
DeleteThank you, they were very pretty.
Hugs,
Mariette
Dearest Mariette,
ReplyDeleteYour all ways mentioned GOOD nice coseup photos..beautiful Azaleas!
I thought was nice raining ...because we never has for not enough in our areas...
Hugs and Love both of you!
Michiko
Dearest Michiko,
DeleteThank you and these closeups make us happy too. Nice raining is okay but this is overdone what we got so far... Weeds are growing like crazy and we cannot even work outside.
Hugs and love to you from both of us.
Mariette
Your woodland walk with those beautiful Azaleas is just so lovely, dear Mariette! It is so nice that you can enjoy a pretty stroll without getting your feet wet. The little pond and greenhouse are wonderful! Wishing you a wonderful weekend with no rain! Hugs xo Karen
ReplyDeleteDearest Karen,
DeleteThank you and yes, the woodland walk keeps our feet clean and dry when the weather is rough. We enjoyed those azalea bushes also from our bay window view at breakfast and such.
The pond is a rather big one, not entirely visible in this photo.
Thanks for the wishes for no rain but we have three more days of it...
Hugs and happy weekend to you!
Mariette
Dearest Mariette,
ReplyDeleteYour Azaleas are making a pretty show in your lovely garden.
The rain is not the best for azaleas and camellias.
Happy weekend
Hugs
Carolyn
Dearest Carolyn,
DeleteGuess that no blossoms can handle anything more than a soft rain...
But we enjoyed them while they lasted!
Happy Sunday to you,
Mariette
Mariette
I'm glad you captured these gorgeous images before rain, and we got to see the beautiful blossoms :-) In my hometown, there is a big azalea park and in blooming season, they have lots of visitors. I haven't visited there forever. It's really nice you can enjoy them right in your yard :-)
ReplyDeleteDearest Tamago,
DeleteYes, it was meant to be like this and we're lucky for having at least the photos.
In Japan I bet there are the very best azalea parks. When we visited in July, they were of course not blooming but beautiful shrubs we saw.
When the weather cooperates, we can enjoy them!
Hugs,
Mariette
Oh yes, a true dream - can just imagine lying down on the grass there, feeling them seeing them... So lovely dear Mariette:-)
ReplyDeleteDearest Eli,
DeleteWhen you're outdoors it is such a joy. But this year too wet for doing so.
Happy Sunday to you.
Hugs,
Mariette
Mariette
Dearest Mariette; Oh, I also AM happy for you to be able to capture these beautiful azaleas before rain and seen from the wood trail must be WONDERFUL♡♡♡ Started to see varieties of them here and there blooming on fence (hope my English is correct :-)
ReplyDeleteI hope you will have a wonderful new week.
Sending Lots of Love and Hugs from Japan to my Dear friend in America, xoxo Miyako*
Dearest Miyako,
DeleteIt will be hard for ever competing with those picture perfect azaleas in Japan but we sure do enjoy ours. This year was not the best one as the rains have destroyed most delicate flowers, too soon. But we always can look forward to the next year - can't we?!
Sending you lots of hugs back from your American friend in Georgia.
Mariette
In your garden is like a park. Azaleas bloom beautifully. Regards.
ReplyDeleteDearest Giga,
DeleteThank you and yes, it certainly is big as a park and especially for European standards!
Hugs,
Mariette
The azaleas are just gorgeous Mariette! What a pretty setting you have for them.
ReplyDeleteDearest Deborah,
DeleteThank you so much. The good thing is that this spot we can view from our breakfast area, the bay window in the kitchen and from our veranda and of course, when weahter permits, from the gazebo nearby!
Hugs,
Mariette
So romantic!
ReplyDeleteDearest Nataša,
DeleteThank you and indeed, for a moment this looks utterly romantic!
Hugs,
Mariette
