{Our Violets}

Mid March we have lots of lovely wood violets, mainly in our wood garden but also in other areas of our garden. So I did gather some for filling a tiny silver vase.
Wood Violets have such pretty faces, also their curved flower head looks very special.
Just so you can see their size, I've added a $ 0.10 piece for comparison.
For back ground I selected a spot with moss...
Sunlight can be quite striking in combination with these lovely flower heads!
Who would NOT love them?
One last closeup and than we say goodbye till 2016.

  7. Hello Mariette, The spring flowers in the U.S. are one of the things I miss most. Often they are white or delicately colored, but the violets (although they also come in white and yellow) could be depended on for some bright color in the spring woods.

      Yes, that is really a huge difference with your area and we missed those things while living and working in Indonesia. All colors of violets are sweet when they start blooming in masses, when spring is beginning.
      Wishing you good weather, with kindest regards,

      Let's hope that soon in your part of the north it will be more friendly with blooming plants and sunshine.
      Sending you hugs and blessings.

    Violets are so sweet and precious! Your lovely,tiny,silver vase is just perfect for displaying them, too. Springs flowers quickly pass and we must enjoy them when we can. Thank you for sharing them. When I was a small girl, I used to dream of violets in a pot on a picnic table in the woods. I don't know what that meant, but violets have always been so special to me.

      These wood violets are so frail and so tiny but their color is indeed beautiful! Mini vase, but they look stunning inside. So fond memories come back to your mind, about the young singer that sang about violets. Guess they are in all cultures considered to be a romantic flower.
      Thank you for your compliment, it is not always easy to capture such little flowers and I had to lie down, on the lawn for doing so... Our kitties came looking at what their Mami was doing. Funny, they must have thought that I finally came into their world.
      Hugs and love from your American friend in Georgia.
