WSJ. THE POWER OF STYLE
Gianni Agnelli,
the godfather of style
The Italian industrialist who ran Fiat during the jet-set age was one of the most stylish men of the 20th century. Many have copied his casually inventive look, but his elegance remains inimitable.
'A LOT OF ITALIANS— REALLY GOOD BUSINESS PEOPLE—
TRY TO BE LIKE HIM. HE'S AN ICON. BUT NOBODY GETS IT. NOBODY.'
Robert Rabensteiner

'THE TIE ASKEW, THE UNBUTTONED SHIRT— NOTHING WAS AN ACCIDENT OR, TO PUT IT ANOTHER WAY, IT WAS MEANT TO BE AN ACCIDENT, WHICH MADE IT EVEN MORE STYLISH.' —Taki Theodoracopulos

Liefs,
Mariette
Dear mariette. Learned something new about a new person today and that is always interesting. Sending you warm hugs my dear friend
ReplyDeleteDearest Eli,
DeleteThe entire world no doubt has read or heard about the Fiat president, especially in Europe where Fiat cars are quite common. Even here in the USA the Italian Fiat family is growing.
Hugs to you,
Mariette
A very interesting man, dear Mariette. Some people have such a casual elegance- it just comes easy for them. Being a very wealthy man does not hurt, either! Most of the time you find they are very lovely people, too. Hope you are having a lovely week with some sunshine! Hugs xo Karen
ReplyDeleteDearest Karen,
DeleteWell, Gianni Agnelli for sure was worldwide known as the president for Fiat and this Italian car is now becoming more and more popular here in the USA as well. His grandfather started Fiat and sadly, Gianni's only son committed suicide some two years before he died because of cancer... Wealth does not hurt but it never can buy you good health. But he did leave a mark no doubt.
Tomorrow the sunshine is supposed to return after a dreary and cool, rainy day.
Hugs,
Mariette
Gianni Agnelli is definitely an icon in so many ways!!
ReplyDeleteDearest Daniela,
DeleteHe definitely was and he left behind a great legacy.
Hugs,
Mariette
Mariette

Dimi...
Dearest Dimi,
DeleteSure most people, at least in Europe, will know him.

Mariette
There are just some people who have THE look. No matter what they do or wear, they always look fantastic. That's definitely not me. I've yet to figure out my style. :) Best wishes, Tammy
ReplyDeleteDearest Tammy,
DeleteWell, that indeed is true for some people and they create history that way, like Coco Chanel.
But you always look lovely and no matter how, being just yourself is the very best way to present yourself!
Hugs,
Mariette
Liebe Mariette,
Mariette
Looks, style and money.......seems he has it all!
ReplyDeleteDearest Janey,
DeleteYes, he did have it all...
Hugs,
Mariette
