When husband Pieter was V.P. Training & Development for Campbell's, he designed this:
Relationships
are like mushrooms
Some could kill you
Some could give you hallucinations
and some are absolutely delicious
So you pick
what you want
Would you agree with this quote by Pieter J.C. Vedder?

very cute and very wise, too! :)
ReplyDeleteDearest Theresa,
DeleteIt sure was cute and maybe the quote about picking more daisies is even hiding in this drawing...
Hugs,
Mariette
Wonderfully worded!! I'm happy to have survived some; and some were quite different than what they seemed and some are very sweet!! Wishing you both a beautiful week ahead xo Celia M. (HHL)
ReplyDeleteDearest Celia,
DeleteWith mushrooms it can be very, very tricky so we better by them at the super markets! Annually there are still several deaths because of it.
Wishing you both also a lovely spring week ahead and enjoy.
Hugs,
Mariette
So glad you shared this. Great piece of work. I agree with him too.
ReplyDeleteDearest LV,
DeleteWell, despite the warnings, it causes each year several deaths because people consume mushrooms they think they know...
Hugs,
Mariette
Hello Mariette, I suppose the corollary would be "Warning--only to be attempted by experts."
ReplyDelete--Jim
Dearest Jim,
DeleteGuess one never totally can prevent all people from leaving this to the experts. Even as an expert, it still remains very tricky.
Kindest regards,
Mariette
A great Saying ;O)
ReplyDeleteHappy new week to you,
Love and hu gs,
Claudia
Dearest Claudia,
DeleteAbove all a very true saying and yet, so many die because of consuming poisonous mushrooms!
Hugs and love to you,
Mariette
Hello Mariette,
ReplyDeleteWell why not compare mushrooms to relationships...
Only one inescapable difference: relationships can't be eaten! LOL!
The drawing is fun!!!
I wish you a great day, keep well!
Dearest Noushka,
DeleteYeah, why NOT? The diversity is about the same I guess.
True; relationships are not edible!
The drawing once more resembles the highly poisonous (but cute looking!) Amanita muscaria.
Happy remainder of April to you as well.
Hugs,
Mariette
Liebe Mariette,
ReplyDeletedu bringst immer wieder gute Hinweise.
Sie sind nützlich für jeden.
Alles Liebe
Elisabeth
Liebe Elisabeth,
Elisabeth
Thank you for the laugh... and it's so true... relationships are like mushrooms. I don't know what is my call... kill you or delicious! :-)
ReplyDeleteDearest Mei,
DeleteMore than welcome and you having been such a great lady chef, for sure your call must be delicious!
Sending you hugs,
Mariette
Dearest Mariette; Wonderful metaphor (hope the right word) your husband worded with great mushroom design☆☆☆ I truly have had relationships with these three type of people for me. I hope I learned to see how to pick by now :-) By the way, I'm preparing the same mushroom rice I posted long ago, yummy.
ReplyDeleteSending Lots of Love and Hugs from Japan to my Dear friend in America, xoxo Miyako*
Dearest Miyako,
DeleteGuess you are right about that, and don't expect too much help from me for I'm not a native English speaker either! But we both get the message and yes, as with mushrooms we have to be rather selective in what we pick. Your mushroom dish for sure will be a yummy one!
Love and hugs to my Japanese friend.
Mariette
Dear mariette. Haha- Awesome ! Even though hallusinations could be fun im gonna go for the delicious ones:-) hugs dear
ReplyDeleteDearest Eli,
DeleteWell, Pieter always joked about that part as one must be very careful or those hallucinations turn into a one-way trip to heaven! One can never measure exactly the dose that is inside certain mushrooms so indeed, we better eat the delicious ones.
Hugs to you,
Mariette
Great advice, I had never heard of this saying.
ReplyDeleteDearest Sami,
DeleteWell, we've both been submerged into the mushroom business for the biggest part of our life so that brings a different language on board!
Hugs,
Mariette
Friends CAN be like mushrooms....it doesn't take long to find out you have chosen the wrong one. I have given up choosing mushrooms ,but I am still out there collecting friends.
ReplyDeleteDearest Janey,
DeleteYou are right about that and we never have collected mushrooms but rather buy them safely at the grocery store! Yes, collecting friends we keep doing till death and it's a very healthy thing.
Hugs,
Mariette
So true ...
ReplyDeleteDearest Joan,
DeleteYes, it is a lot of truth.
Hugs,
Mariette
Een grappige vergelijking ha,ha. Gaat wel op denk ik.
ReplyDeleteBeste Marianne,
Mariette
Dear Mariette,
ReplyDeleteI like your husbands straightforwardness and humour! What interest me very much is from what period this advert is? Somehow it sounds really daring for the USA!
Thank you for always leaving such kind comments on my blog too. They always lift me up a little ;-)! I am sorry for not being able to pop over to your blog more often!
Wishing you a lovely week!
Dearest Madelief,
DeleteIt is a nice wrapper for a serious problem... but so very true. This is from late 1983 and why would any scientific truth be daring for the USA or any country for that matter? Far better for building in an underlying warning instead of motivating to eat all mushrooms. The death toll annually still is shocking world wide, due to poisonous mushrooms or overdose of those hallucinogenic ones.
You are quite welcome and I always try to write straight from the heart and when reading very well, we can do that.
Know that I admire you and don't ever worry about visits...
Hugs,
Mariette
Liebe Mariette,
Mariette
Dearest Mariette,
ReplyDeleteRelationships are like muhrooms some could kill you, some could give you halluinations and some are absolutilg delicious, so you pick what you want..At Japaness are memories of some mushrooms are were made accident...of course only with old people?
Hugs and Love to both of you!
Michiko
Dearest Michiko,
DeleteWell, old people and children are more sensitive to those poisonous ones, that is true but in general we all have to be watchful. Better buy them at the grocery stores.
Sending you love and hugs from both of us.
Mariette
Yes I do agree, knowing what one could kill you is the hard thing though
ReplyDeleteDearest Jo-Anne,
DeleteYes, that's very true so better to stay away of those we cannot fully trust... Too risky.
Hugs,
Mariette
Grappige vergelijkingen.
Fijne dag, lieve groet
Beste Willy,
Liefs,
Mariette
Dear Mariette, this is so true!!I agree!!
ReplyDeleteHappy King's Day!!
Have a lovely week!!!Hugs!
Dimi...
Dearest Dimi,
DeleteIt is a given fact...
Thank you and we sure will celebrate it here in the USA as well!
Hugs and love,
Mariette
Dearest Mariette,
ReplyDeleteTrue words, succinctly put!
Enjoy KIng's Day
*s*
Dearest Suzi,
DeleteThank you and indeed succinctly put by husband Pieter!
Yes, even being US Citizen's King's Day will always remain a special day for us as well.
Hugs,
Mariette
lieve Mariette ,
Liefs,
Mariette
