{Antique German REPOUSSE Silver ANGELS Napkin, Letter or Card Holder}

Offering here a very rare and unique Antique German REPOUSSE Silver ANGELS Napkin, Letter or Card Holder for either the Office or your Tea Table. It is such an elegant addition. Below this post you find more links with also photos as a Card Holder. Hope you enjoy this special piece of silver work by German Silversmith ADAM MANNS & SOHN. This Holder is from before 1938 when they added a dot to the AMD silver mark after son Wilhelm took over. You will see info below.
Frolicking ANGELS or PUTTI decorate this beautiful Napkin, Card or Letter Holder...
Used here with hand crocheted cocktail napkins.
This rare antique piece is available for sale at my ZenCart powered on line Boutique: Mariette's Back to Basics: Antique REPOUSSE Silver ANGELS Napkin or Card Holder.
This will adorn any tea table or hors d'œuvre buffet in a very romantic way!
Again I did use the gifted hand crocheted lace table topper made by blogger friend Susan from Ava Grace's Closet's Mama and of course our favorite Gardenias, the Large variety.
Don't you love these frolicking ANGELS together with the lace and flowers?
Creating a little bit of heaven on earth...
This is the back side, which is exactly the same as the front.

{Do YOU Like HIGH HEELED Platform Shoes?}

During our recent vacation to Florida, we of course did visit our favorite Neiman Marcus Last Call Outlet store in Orlando. And checking their shoe department I just HAD to try on those mile high platform shoes... Do YOU Like such HIGH HEELED Platform Shoes?
Two different ones... but oh so hard to balance yourself. How can anyone walk on these?
Only the thought of twisting your ankle and doing severe damage to your ankle ligament; OUCH!
Of course, when booking our two nights at Hyatt Place Universal Studio, Orlando we planned to SWIM and enjoy the sunshine...
NOPE... they had drained their pool!
 No Lifeguard on Duty...
No chaises either for lounging in the sunshine and do some reading and relaxing.
So off we went to the Outlets!
That's how I ended up walking on STILTS...
These were about 5 inches tall and with a 1 inch platform!
Having an Egyptian foot; I hate those peep toe shoes...
Husband Pieter took these photos with my iPhone as I wanted to SEE for myself how this would look on me.
Especially that right shoe made me feel like a tall Giraffe...
Such STILTS, be it stiletto or heels like these I am wearing here, are NOT for me.
Maybe because of the movie Keetje Tippel in 1975 and the following Carnival parades in The Netherlands with HIGH HEELED Tippelaarsters (Night Walkers or Street Walkers...) caused a certain aversion for me.
How about you?

{Raw Silk Purchased in Hong Kong for Sewing THIS}

Traveling to International Conferences gives you a great opportunity for some special shopping. Such was the case when we went to Hong Kong and I got to purchase some lovely Raw Silk. Very soft, not that thin and it drapes perfect. So look what I created from my fabric...
A short cropped jacket with elbow length sleeves over a narrow skirt.
This is from a Burda pattern in a size 4 or European 34.
I used antique buttons as a garnish.
The entire suit is lined in black silk from Britex Fabrics in San Francisco.
My top is a knit rayon by Escada.
I do wear a Chanel belt through the added on belt loops.
Wolford panty hose and Italian Bruno Magli patent leather shoes from the Outlet.
Yes, that wasp catcher behind me will get painted white one of these days...
There are two pockets sewn on in the back and the skirt has a center slit.
Yes, I did match the plaids in all seams...
This raw silk fabric is a bit slubby.
Detail of the antique button...
And my Rado coupole watch that we bought tax free at Singapore airport.
Later I added the wrist band as it came with a black leather one.
Bracelet is white and yellow gold from Costco wholesale.
Lots of topstitching done on this suit; all with Japanese silk thread from Britex Notions.
Meet the photographer Pieter in his cotton plaid shirt with linen Zegna jeans from the Outlet.

{My Hand Knitted Linen Top}

For summer, nothing feels better on our skin than LINEN. I have hand knitted this khaki colored linen top and LOVE wearing it. So it did come into the suitcase with us to Florida. These photos are from September 19, and are taken inside the gardens of the Hyatt House Miami Airport. One of our favorite Hyatt hotels that feels like home with its suite concept and fully equiped kitchen.
Wearing my hand knitted linen top here with my Escada khaki shorts and Escada Sport sandals.
As accessories I wore my tiger eye necklace and bracelet (not visible in photo).
We had three days of rain in Miami, so everything looked rather damp.
The accent on the back... which I did alter.
I went for a boat neck design instead.
More in detail...
This was on the day before we departed to central Florida, on our way home...
Do you love to wear linen in summer?

{Lampe Berger Cherub Cameo (Angelot)}

Lampe Berger Cherub Cameo (Angelot) is one of my favorites! This one is made out of porcelain and comes with the heavy gold cap. If you love authentic French Cherubs, Angels or Angelot as much as I do; this is your chance to own one too. It is in perfect condition!
No longer available but I do have ONE for sale in my boutique...  Mariette's Back to Basics. The opaque Cameo is surrounded by a golden circle to make it even stand out more.
When I made these photos we were lucky for having some Gardenias blooming for using in the pictures with this romantic Lampe Berger. Again I have used the very finely hand crocheted table topper made and gifted by blogger friend Susan's Mom from Ava Grace's Closet.
If used with some authentic Lampe Berger 'Precious Jasmine' oil this is pure heaven!
Such Lampe Berger together with such heavenly Jasmine oil would make for a truly angelic gift!
Who could resist this? All the romantic ingredients needed for creating some heavenly atmosphere within your own home...
The bottom side with its Lampe Berger mark. This is the REAL French thing. You will not find any better French Country Style than this.
Sorry Sold out...

{Do you know Dutch DWEILEN for Mopping up Water?}

When we had the Flash Flood problems we were using 17 Dutch style DWEILEN for mopping up the ground water that came in our basement. Besides the two wet vacs that we ran all the time. What a job. I ended up ordering 6 more of these Dutch Witte Dweilen, from Michigan's VanderVeen's also called: The Dutch Store. Just click on both links and you also might want to get their Dutch Chocolate Letters in time for the holiday season.
From Albert Heijn
A 50 x 60 cm DWEIL in white cotton...
It is woven such that it has a high absorption of water.
The way I use this is with a squeegee that I place over the wet 'dweil'. This one is dry, just for demonstrating on our balcony.
Next you turn the 'dweil' over the squeegee  and now you can move over your tiles.
I do this with a wet 'dweil' then I rinse it out and wring it dry and go over the same spot again for drying it off.
Those cotton dweilen (plural for dweil) I throw into my Miele washer and they get laundered on 170°F for cleaning and disinfecting them for the next use. This is a very hygienic way of mopping floors.
