Hyatt Regency Suites Atlanta Northwest

Yes, on October 10, we drove up to Atlanta, Northwest for a two night stay at the Hyatt Regency Suites.

We'd been there before, on January 13, 2018 and loved the fact that they have a kind of kitchenette with a microwave and roomy refrigerator.

During the crazy COVID times, they did not serve their usual breakfast, which always was so good!

So with this option of having a kitchenette, we brought our own and it worked out perfect.

The building of Hyatt Regency Suites Atlanta Northwest on the outside makes us always think of the Camino Réal hotel in the Aztec style, in México City. Click through on link...

So here we went.

To the left you see the large sized microwave and next to it the refrigerator.

Also coffee maker of course.

This really feels like home away from home!

Photos are from 2018, this time we had a room in the back, overlooking the garden and oh so quiet on the 5th floor.

The king size bed with down duvet (no synthetic down!) and pillows sleeps like a dream on their pillow top mattress. Exactly like our down duvet and pillows at home...

We'd stopped at Whole Foods Market for some food from their food bar.

Easy supper, heating it up in the microwave and staying in for the evening!

Relaxing for me, after the drive up...

Bathroom is also well equipped.

Hallway with closet...

In the mirror is my reflection, wearing still my Escada Rose Sweater for our choir performance at UGA Athens Stegeman Colliseum... (home of the Georgia Bulldogs basketball and gymnastics teams).

From there, I drove to this Hyatt in Northwest Atlanta.

Me, third from left... Photo inserted as a back flash only!

~

Yes a true Suite!

So we stayed here again now.

We woke up well rested and were on our way to our special destination...

Stay tuned!

  1. Hello Mariette, I used to travel a bit for work or vacation, but I never enjoyed being in a hotel, although the suite you show seems unusually nice. I suppose today with laptop computers you can take a variety of your own work and entertainment, but even so there is something about a hotel that makes me feel like keeping away form it as much as possible. Perhaps that is the point--when we are traveling, we should be exploring the local area.

I also don't understand the current trend in interior design that makes people want their homes to look like hotels or restaurants. It is often stated as a goal or deliberate compliment, but it used to be that saying someone's house looked like a hotel was an insult. A hotel has to please the average person, but one's house should reflect an individual personality.

    1. Dearest Jim,
Well, staying at a hotel is only necessary for getting from A to B. But it makes quite a difference where you stay. Is it a safe area, secure parking and is the hotel comfortable for sleeping well? Those are our top priorities. An added bonus is having a good restaurant inside said hotel. Both of us never had much time for exploring the local area as we often had to perform during the day and also during dinner time our brains got picked. So it was just for resting up. Now, we select on for reaching our destination or a worthwhile attraction to attend.
Oh, most people follow blindly the commercials and magazines that are all brainwashing the masses in living like this; eating that; doing so... Our home sure is not a sterile looking place without a soul! We don't need to be told what looks good as we use our own judgement.
      Hugs,
      Mariette

Yes, this is a very quiet and secure place, also for parking. We did reach our next place in one hour and twenty minutes, so that was perfect! You will see it in the upcoming post.

Thank you and yes, at that time I was singing in a choir as a 1st soprano, just like my Mom has done for over 25 years and my Dad as 1st Tenor for 81 years...

  7. What a joy to be able to sing, I've always envied that gift.

I used to enjoy staying in hotels, but I wouldn't care to stay in one now unless I brought cleaning supplies and sanitized everything. I used to bus in the mornings with 2 sisters who worked in housekeeping at 2 different downtown hotels. The horror stories...!

BTW, I agree re: houses NOT looking like hotels, unless they're being staged for selling. Hotel rooms have to be devoid of personality, but even if you're a minimalist, your home should reflect your heart and soul. 🏡🙂

    1. Dearest Kim,
Singing is a universal way of expressing joy and it is food for the soul.
We always have opted for the best hotels, or else you better stay at home! Like when riding the Canadian Rocky Mountaineer they had us stay at the Fairmont Hotels. Guess we all cannot compete with their level of cleaning etc. There no doubt is a difference in certain levels, as is in normal households!
Absolutely homes should bare their own personality and not just a cold replica from a magazine. A home without a soul, is just 'empty'...

      Mariette

We both feel sorry for all that have to make a living from restaurant business and from tourism in general. They've been hurt by the restriction under the umbrella of COVID...
