Tiny Eggs Maybe from Chickadee

Our Garden has plenty of birds and thus also birds nests.
One can come upon little surprises...
There is a US penny next to those tiny eggs for comparison.
Here Pieter held his index finger next to the eggs...

Always a joy to see lots of birds in our garden and we continue to feed them throughout winter.

  1. Oh, wie winzig, liebe Mariette! Von welchem Vogel sind die denn?
    Brüten die jetzt noch?

    Liebe Grüße
    Sara

    1. Liebe Sara,
Ja, die Meise hat ja winzig kleine Eier!
Vögel haben hier aufgrund unseres Klimas eine längere Brutzeit.
      Liebe Grüße,
      Mariette

  2. Amazing how the bird put a penny in the nest for comparison. They are clever.

    God bless.

Indeed, a very clever species for doing so! 😉

  5. So very tiny, Mariette! We feed the birds in our yard, too. Love to watch them at the feeders.

    1. Dearest Martha Jane,
      They are very delicate indeed.
Birds belong to the family and food is being bought for them year round.
      Hugs,
      Mariette

  6. Goodness, they ARE tiny! I do hope the eggs were viable and that the chicks survived and have thrived! Take care; have a good week. :-)

    1. Dearest Kim,
Yes, that is our hope too but there are so many predators that steal eggs... A sad thing for having to start all over many times. Our breeding season in the south is extended however.
      Hugs,
      Mariette

  7. Hello Mariette, Since it was so easy to pose the cent in the nest, I would worry that squirrels or other animals could get at it as well. It also works the other way round. In front of my mother's building was a rabbit's nest, and as the crows perched above it, the rabbits were frantic with protective anxiety. I hope that all went well with these tiny eggs.

There always is danger lurking at any young life in nature.
We both hope that things worked out well for them.

    1. Dearest Helen,
Thank you, yes those were surprisingly tiny and Pieter captured them well and showed their real size for comparison.
We have not been able to bike since Sunday due to lots of rain...
Too much of wet weather here in Georgia!
