{Our Interlock Aluminum Slate Roofing Being Installed}

As promised on July 10, here is the follow up story for our Interlock® Aluminum Slate Roofing in Aged Copper, being installed. Yes, our Energy Efficient GREEN Roofing is finally being put on. In my previous post you also can read more about how to Reduce Your Carbon Footprint, now and for a lifetime. So that's what we did when having this Energy Efficient GREEN Roofing put on. Interlock® Slate Roofing is also an Energy Star® Partner.
This is in French: Interlock Systèm de Toiture à Vie...
Interlock Roofing Lifetime Roofing Systems
First they went ahead and placed this RoofTopGuard, a High Performance Roofing Underlayment on our roof.
This breathable product is made in Finland
This Roofing Underlayment went all the way on top of our old Asphalt Shingles so there was no waste and it will add even more to the insulation of our home.
These photos I've taken with my iPhone on May 6, at 8:22 PM in the evening after the hard working crew of three, finished for the day.
One of our felines is checking underneath the ladder... This might be our Sacha-girl, the one that got killed by a car on June 17...
Already part of the new Interlock Aluminum Slate Roofing in Aged Copper being installed here.
Do you know anyone who has used this product on their roof?
The light in the front porch already had come on...
We were so lucky for having had no rain for the time they worked! It got postponed due to bad weather earlier.
The crew from Interlock Metal Roofing were so courteous. Never noisy, never hollering or loud mouthed as we often could hear when in our neighborhood they had roofers working on a home. Each evening they would gather all the trash from the empty boxes and clean up very neatly.
Even our felines were impressed by the courtesy of our roofers!
To the left you can see our Sacha-girl... and to the right is her adopted younger sister Spicy.
See how dirty the home still looks here... Pressure wash came after the roof got installed.
This is next day, late afternoon when they were working on the side of our home. See how they make those loops in that rope for climbing and holding on to? A box with Aluminum Slates on the roof top for working with. It is a physical job for carrying these materials all up the ladder.
Heavy over cast but that was good for those workers!
Strange sight for having this High Performance Roofing Underlayment from Finland on our roof...
This is the bay window area of our kitchen.
The material sure is slinking hard on those pallets that we received as a big freight just before we left for Curaçao...
Here you can still see the wooden balusters on the balcony...
The left part of the roof is being done already, to the right you see the bare Roofing Underlayment still waiting for receiving its Aluminum Slates.
To be continued...

We have been so blessed indeed. And if we would not have had this roof on and the gutters clean, we would have been fighting the water again with all the torrential rains.

it always is to do some work, if you have a house, isn't it?
The workmen have been very pleased, I guess, to have such good weather!
    Happy weekend to you,

Yeah but imagine having to do this labor under blue skies without any cloud... You almost get fried on top of the roof. We felt good for them as well; no rain but heavy overcast.
Oh, owning your own home is quite a job but this will last us a lifetime; that's a good feeling and also for saving on our utility bill.
      Hugs,

Oh, "Energy Efficient GREEN Roofing" finally being installed!!! I can guess how you must have felt secured when it's done without a hitch. I was happy to hear you got the luck that workers were all courteous♪ I remember I had the same luck when we extended my husband's hobby room. And the weather was the another key element, p;) And it sure must have been a heavy physical work.
Always hard to see our beloved ones no longer with us in the pictures, isn't it!!!

Sending you lots of love and hugs from Japan, xoxo Miyako*

I am fascinated with your new roof. I wish I had known about it when I had my roof replaced five years ago. I could at least have explored the option.
What sweet memories memories to see Sacha with her sister Spicy. I think our 4Leg family members become siblings when we bring them home.

  10. Replacing a roof can be such a disruptive experience, but it sounds like everything went very smoothly for you! It's so nice that you didn't have to take the old roofing off as this leaves minimal damage to the area around the home. So sweet to see your beloved kitty enjoying her wonderful life and I'm so sorry that she is no longer with you. I'm looking forward to seeing the final results, Mariette! Hugs, xo

Oh, this has been a most pleasant experience all together. Far more from any possible damage around the home it causes problems for our environment if asphalt shingles end up being garbage. We both are very concerned about keeping our Planet GREEN!
Sacha was a sweet girl and they loved to check out any change around the home. Spicy girl misses her companion terribly...
You will see more postings about our home to come!

  12. Hello dear Mariette!

You were smart to start this roof-replacement job in nice weather...I'm sure it also helps for a most prompt finish. I'm glad you're enjoying the transition, too! I'm sorry to hear about Sacha being run over by a car, how horroble!!! Can't wait to see how your house turns up when finished. Thanks for your wonderful visit. We say in Spanish..'tono en tono' (white on white) as you mentioned in French too. Enjoy your weekend.

For having this Aluminum Roof put on during nice weather was more luck than being smart! Of course they cannot do the work in the rain but we got so blessed for having it done in time for the rain.
Yes, the experience with our Sacha was horrible, she barely had wounds but she died... So sad!
Don't you love all 'tono en tono' embroidery?

No, we have been blessed for having finished all exterior renovating work BEFORE these torrential rains.
You will soon see the follow up and end results.
We're almost done with our work; only adding the balusters to the balcony... and having the painters come to paint them.

  14. It is so much fun to see the process of home improvement :-) The workers from roofing company sound very nice. When we had our deck repaired, we were glad the workers were very courteous, too. They cleaned very well before leaving for the day. I've seen reform-in-process room and there were tobacco ends here and there. That's disappointing.
It's great the weather was cooperating! It's been raining so much that I think you are really lucky :-)

It is fun now for watching all the photos but we have lived through quite a time with all our improvements, especially inside the home. This job was really super; no complaint whatsoever!
We definitely were lucky for having it done as early as weather did permit. The planning was that they would do it while we were in Curaçao but due to rain, it could not be realized.
Hugs to you and we have to look forward to our Indian Summer it looks like...

Oh my, so you had rain problems too with leaking inside one bedroom. Oh, if they do crack the roof tiles or any mistake, the rain will tell... Let's hope it got all repaired and that you are safe for now.
We are also happy with our summer, even though it is such a wet one. Who knows, the best might yet have to come.
